Labels and the Drama That Isn't
Labels and the Drama That Isn't
12/16/11 at 10:20 AM by Jason Tate
I've seen a lot of music blogs posting that Hey Monday and D.R.U.G.S were "dropped" from Decaydance. After speaking with some sources, it's not nearly as drama filled as people want to make it out to be. Like it is in so many cases: WB was the main label, but Decaydance was where the albums were being released.* The deal with WB is up. I can't speak for Hey Monday, but I know DRUGS has decided to part ways with WB. More info when I've got it.

* Side note: Do labels really not think people know this is the case virtually all the time? It's so common practice now that I think most people just assume ... even with real independent labels where it's not the case.

If DRUGS gets off Warner, I believe they are required to go back to Equal Vision, where Craig Owens had a contract before. There's a tie between those two labels.
