Some revised thoughts on Cartel's self-titled album

So after listening to the album a few times, this is what I think.

It's good and bad at the same time.

Confused? Let me explain.

Cartel is an album full of decent mid-tempo songs. Yes there are some bad songs and yes there are some cheesy/bad lyrics. It happens. But here is the problem.

Cartel wants to be rock stars.

I sorta agree with you. For me overall it's ok. I've grown to really like the album the more I listen to it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them wanting to be a big band. I don't think it's cocky for them to say that. But if making with a album that has huge choruses, energetic and catchy, was gonna make them huge stars, Chroma would have done that. Besides, some of those songs on Cartel are like that.

The thing I can admire about this album is some of the different things they tried on it. I get the sense from this album they wanna separate themselves from being known as a pop-punk band and doind that type of music. It's hit and miss on the album but I hope they keep trying.
