Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Live In Atlanta - March 18, 2012
03/07/12 at 05:11 PM by Thomas Nassiff

Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, a line was growing outside the Philips Arena in Atlanta. Well, it looked like the Philips Arena. It certainly was a building; it certainly was the place where the Atlanta Hawks play their basketball games.

By 8:30, however, unbeknownst to the many patrons of the adjunct CNN Center, the Philips Arena had undergone an internal gutting of a transformation....[read more]

Fantastic write-up, Thomas. I feel like I just witnessed the show myself.
Just a little typo, in the first paragraph about Clemons, one of the last sentences you use "whale" where it should be "wail." I think.

My father and I were there. Of the 8 times my dad has seen Springsteen, he said it was the best Springsteen show he'd seen since 1975.

I wanted to go to this show so badly, but I haven't been able to do anything. I've never seen Bruce, but I've been a fan since I was a little kid because my dad introduced everything early. I needed to go.

Echoing the sentiments above. The bits about Jake and Clarence literally brought tears to my eyes, just imagining the mood in the arena.

Thanks so much, everyone. I haven't felt like that when I've written about anything in a long time, just sitting at the keyboard and letting it all come out. Only when you're really passionate about the subject matter can you write like that, I think. I encourage everyone to see Springsteen's show this year even if you're not a fan, because the emotion is tangible.

I've never listened to much Bruce, aside from the odd song here or there. You've made me want to. And you've made me think that, if I don't like it, I'm not trying hard enough. I think you may have introduced one of my favorite bands to me, and it's one I've never heard. And I want to know where to start in his discography, and I want to like it.
Great fucking write-up, man. :)

Start with Born To Run - it's not hard to like that at all.

Ahh I need to see this tour. I think the song I'm most excited about seeing live from the new album is 'Land of Hopes and Dreams'. How was that at this show?

Absolutely great piece mate. Seen Bruce live over 10 times all around the world, every time is pretty much a life changing experience. Seeing him in Hyde Park in July at Hard Rock calling... excited is an understatement.

What a great piece you wrote--reading this put me at the show almost! I'm so bummed Bruce isn't coming to Oregon on this tour--he's one of the few classic rockers that I want to see.
