First Impressions: Yellowcard - Southern Air
First Impressions: Yellowcard - Southern Air
07/09/12 at 07:43 AM by Ryan Gardner
Growing up with Ocean Avenue in constant rotation in my stereo, Yellowcard have always held a special place in my heart. Seeing them on their headlining tour and on Warped Tour reminded me of all these memories.

Well, Southern Air is the accumulation of every Yellowcard release into one powerhouse of a record - think Paper Walls on steroids. There's a level of confidence here that is unmatched by any of their previous material. The opening track is everything we love about YC openers - huge chorus, massive build up, hooks...[read more]

My goodness, I'm already excited enough for this album! This review just has me more pumped for the pre order to get to my house already. Paper Walls has also been my favorite album of Yellowcard so if this guy claims the new album tops it ohhh mannn he better be right!!!

I wish this came out earlier in the summer so I would have more time to drive around blasting it out my windows. August 14th can't come soon enough.

I'm so glad they came back after their hiatus. But, moreover, I'm glad they've made great records since.

Ocean Avenue is my favourite Yellowcard record but When You're Through Thinking...is a level above any other pop punk album released in the past few years and I'm sure Southern Air will surpass that.

Long live Yellowcard.

Havent been this excited for an album in a long time and this review, with you saying its better than your favorite record of theirs, has sky rocketed my excitment haha My favorite album of theirs is Ocean Avenue, and I doubt that will change just because the album is so dynamic and perfect, but I have a feeling thisll without a doubt challenge that.

Hows the song with Alex, Cassadee, and Taylor?

"Telescope" is the track with Alex (All Time Low), Tay (We Are The In Crowd), and Cassadee Pope. It's very hook-driven. When they all join in on the chorus, it's just sounds huge - arena style huge.

"Here I Am Alive" is the song co-written with Stump - but his performance wasn't able to make the final version, but it does feature Tay from We Are The In Crowd. It's straight up pop - most "pop" song YC have ever done.
