Attn Jason/Staff: Hire Klatzke
Attn Jason/Staff: Hire Klatzke

I understand that I'm just a non-prestigious user who's only been around for a year and half, but I think I know at least a little about the users and writers on the site. Klatzke is the best user reviewer on the site, no contest, and he has been for a while. He is superior both in quality and quantity, the guys a fucking machine. Plus, think about it, how much easier would it be if you didn't have to sit and approve all of his user reviews? His writing is top notch, so why waste time?

User review submissions are one of the things that I tabulate, and his review numbers are definitely at the top for the user reviewers.

I'm with you this one, man. He's definitely earned it. Hopefully Tate or whoever has taken notice or will take notice.

not backed. his reviews are pretty typical and boring to read. he doesn't have the writing level most of the rest of the staff has. and he has pretty everyday music tastes. he wouldn't add anything to staff they don't already have.

sorry to say it, but it's true

I've tried not to post on this or anything, I won't comment on my writing ability (or the supposed standard of the staff), but my taste differ from most of the reviewers on this site fairly drastically.

that's some run-of-the-mill "creative" writing. anyone can make a story out of an album. it's not a bad review, it's just not as impressive as you think. with all the staff additions recently, such reviews add little to whatever prestige this site is trying to achieve.

as a side note, some of the staff do actually write fairly poorly (susan frances, joe deandrea) and klatzke does write substantially better than them, but his writing isn't up to par with some of the other member's writing, and from reading his blog, he primarily listens to metalcore records with sprinkles of styles that are considered "different" on this site, but they already have reviewers for those types of music.

not hating on you klatzke, just don't see the point of the staff adding yet another staffer when they've already added like 4 these past few months

.. that still cannot keep up with the number of User Reviews submitted each week. It's completely true that they don't seem to be able to keep up with the demand of reviews submitted each week. And no, there aren't staffers that review those kinds of albums. I'm not arguing this whole thing either way, I'm just saying that I know, for fact, that the albums I review tend to differ from the kinds of staff reviews that are done. They do "big" metalcore albums, like Underoath, Norma Jean, and Misery Signals, but the rest are slighted for pop/indie/folk stuff.

But if it wasn't for me, who else would review all the generic powerpop albums!?!? Also, there is no Susan on staff.

I'm not saying you (klatzke) owe us anything (be that respect, adoration, anything at all), but if it were me who was trying to get hired here, i'd stop publicly calling out the user review editors. Doesn't really make anyone on staff willing and eager to hire you, ya know?

I don't think that he's calling the editors out, more saying that they just don't have enough time to keep up with the large number of user reviews that are being submitted. It's not necessarily their fault, but they number of user reviews being submitted seems to be growing, and I don't think that the number of people working on editing/approving is large enough.

I'm glad Klatzke has the time and eagerness to continue submitting reviews -- I do. However, we are not 15 years old and do not have the time nor the capacity to keep up with the amount of user reviews. It's not that we are not working hard at it -- Travis, Blake, Jeremy, Adrian and myself each work on them from time to time. Jeremy is learning right now, so it's all him -- adjusting, reading over each review and editing them bit by bit. It takes a great deal of time -- and frankly, we all have other jobs, college educations and adult responsibilities in-between. I appreciate Klatzke's work ethic -- however, I don't see what makes his tastes superior or that much different than other staff. We handle all sorts of genres (some staffers are currently breaking for personal reasons), and while it's wonderful to have such enthusiasm from the two of you (Klatzke and Brad), this is really not the way to get our attention. If we feel you're a good fit for the site, we will come to you -- you have completed a lot for your ages with music sites, but I would recommend each of you to continue strengthening your writing skills and English comprehension.

I don't think he was saying you couldn't keep up with it for lack of trying, but because of the things you said, and I (and he) understand that, but that seems to on;y further justify the fact that you need more help. That's what I think he was trying to say.
