Five and Alive: Dripping Wax in 2010

Last year I gave you my top five favorite vinyl finds of the year. This year, I enlisted the guys from The Saddest Landscape, who put out an incredible record this year - You Will Not Survive. The guys not only gave us their top five favorite vinyl packages, but also five tips on releasing your own tunes on wax. See below for a double dose of the column this week.

Vocalist Andy Maddox's advice on vinyl presses...

Over the years I have released a fair amount of records and purchased (or should I say obsessively collected) a substantial amount more and while I would never claim to be an expert on anything here are a few things I have...[read more]

Don't mean to call him out, but my 9" split vinyl of theirs and Pianos had the sleeve ripped on one side, and the album art looked and felt like it was barely more sturdy than computer paper. I mean for $9 and a poster it's hard to complain (thus I haven't) but I did chuckle when I read that. I haven't ordered my LP of You Will Not Survive so I have yet to see what the packaging is like that for LP.

I mean, it came with a bunch of stickers. Also, didn't Old Pride come out in 2009? Otherwise it'd be on my best of 2010 list.

My bad, I kept trying to figure out when it was but all the downloads say 09, I assume that's because it must've leaked back before the new year. Yeah found the release date in their blog. I'll be sure to add it, thanks!!

The Saddest Landscape's discography on vinyl is one of my favorites. They put a lot of effort into it.

My favorite vinyl of this year might be Dangers. The pre-order came with an awesome poster of the full artwork as well. Plus it's one of the year's best albums.

This is useful, been looking into getting some vinyl done, mainly to do a split with my friends and to become part of my dad's huge vinyl collection.
