So I started running again. I've been fantastically lazy this year and it's making me feel...well...lazy. Lazier. Vicious cycle and all that. Running isn't my preferred method of exercise at all, but since a pool membership is definitely not in my budget, it will have to do. There is something calming about striking out through the morning fog with nothing but your heartbeat and breath and whatever album you're currently bumping to keep you company. And when it comes right down to it, I get to run in one of the most beautiful places in the world:
...so there's always that.
This cold is still kicking my ass, though, and in retrospect it was probably a bad idea to jump-start a new exercise routine when my body is having so much fun pretending I'm an 80-year-old woman. As a direct result of this foolishness, I feel like death. So it goes.
I'm kind of a stupid girl sometimes.
Danielle keeps texting me to go to the bar with her on Wednesdays. She has friends that DJ there. I've met them, they're a little too normal for my tastes, but not bad people. I feel bad blowing her off all the time, I just hate the bar scene. I am not into being scantily clad on dance floors, I am usually not in the mood to pay through the nose for booze (and I'm never in the mood to scam on desperate guys for drinks), and since we're being completely honest, the chances of me meeting a friendly and intelligent single dude who digs the Matches, comics, and zombie flicks in any of the local bars are pretty much zilch. I really should go out and meet people, I'm sick of being single, but I'm fairly terrible at it. Anyone wanna go on a date? We can see The Spirit and talk about how Taking Back Sunday used to be good, or something.
(I'm kidding. God forbid I should ever become enough of a caricature to use the internet for dating. Ever been on soulgeek.com? It comes up on my facebook all the time because, er, I like souls...and...geeks, apparently...everyone on that website is a walking stereotype.)
I think I'm going to wrap this up before it goes any further downhill. A few parting notes:
- Things I am reading lately: Max Scoville vs. Your Mother (written by my insane best friend), Bad Sandwich Chronicles (written by the talented Brendan Kelly), and More Than You Really Need To Know About Birdmonster (written by, well, Birdmonster). I highly recommend all three.
- My new flickr account is up and running and can be found here; there are all kinds of lovely nature-type photos like the one above, and even more lovely concert-type photos from my various musical escapades. Check it out if you are so inclined.
That's all for now. Take care, my fellow denizens of the internet.
