If you're reading this from the USA, it's entirely possible that you haven't heard of this band, even though they were born and bred in Tennessee. If you're in the UK or Australasia, you've probably heard "Sex on Fire" played a million times and are well aware of their awesomness.
The Kings are one of the best modern rock bands around: as far as I'm concerned that's a fact not an opinion (not that I'm tryna sound arrogant or anything hehe). They have risen to great heights and perfected their sound.
I just have one tiny concern...
The lead singer, Caleb Followill, is great. On their current record 'Only By The Night' you can even understand what the hell he's saying (which is a huge step for him) ;). BUT I have read various articles talking of drunken nights to the point of concussion, a battle with anorexia and self-depreciation. I've SEEN him smoking weed on the band's website.
I'm not gonna preach wether these things are right or wrong, but it's obvious to me that this piece of human-musical-brilliance is on a path to self destruction. Is anyone else feeling my pathetic amount of worry for the singer?
And also, does anyone else think that the whole 'rock and roll lifestyle' is, well, pathetic and misleading in the way that it won't nescessarily lead to riches and fame?
Besides, there aren't even that many true rock and rollers left that party as hard as Slash and Keith Richards... Apart from Caleb Followill of course.
Anyway, I think what this blog is really about is me trying to feel as though I've done some good by telling randoms about a dude who's practically dieing...
