the BEST music
the BEST music

It may be pretty obvious to some people that I like pop-punk. Although I also like alot of southern rock, indie/alternative and pretty much everything that came out of the '80s.

But all said, I would never admit it too my indie punk rocker friends, but one of my biggeest musical passions is gospel, choir and orchestral music. And today I'm going to scream it out to the whole damn internet.

If you've been in the ocean and been knocked down by a wave, then you'll understand the rush of any of Vivaldi's opening 4 bars, the refreshing feeling of a choir singing about peace and love rather than guns drugs and making "love in this club."

One of my favourite classical pieces is Bach's suite in B minor (thanks to my music teacher who introduced me to the works of Bach). It's made up of an opening overture and followed by six dances from different European countries (as in all suites). The dances are full of ornamental flourishes of the flute and strings, and brilliant terraced dynamics. If you're aspiring to be a musical genius, as I am, then Bach is the man to turn to.

And then there's gospel music with it's spectacular soaring harmonies from a passionate choir and an accompanying organ sounding eerie but soothing. I want to mention gospel singers that have pushed their way through to pop music. Anyone from Aretha Franklin to Otis Redding and Sam Cooke and even Caleb Followill from Kings Of Leon. Such unmistakably powerful voices, where no matter what they're singing it sounds uplifting and awesome.

I'd like to think "El Jeffe" ( http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=807452 ) who introduced to me (via this website) the group I am currently listening too: Ladysmith Black Mambazo. What an amazing fusion of voices. Possibly the most sooting thing I have heard in a long time. I don't know wether I'm elated or dissapointed to say they're a welcome change from the pulsing rock of Fall Out Boy who I so desperately love.

All I can say is, I wish I could sing like these vocal prodigys!
