Last night was so great. Joe tried to get me to try out for High School Musical 2 in Adrian, but I slept in instead.
I think I made a wise decision.
Then we picked up Kris & went into Ann Arbor.
We went to the mall. Hot Topic gave me a job application without me asking, it was kinda funny. My band will be playing in that same Hot Topic next month, as they're trying to put on monthly in-store performances there and some of my friends' bands have already played.
After that, we went to this HUGE Salvation Army, where we stayed for about 45 minutes, 10 of which at one point I spent trying to find Joe & Kris because this place was too big for me to find them. This was the first Goodwill/Salvation Army trip I've gone on in a while that I didn't find anything I wanted, but it was alright.
We then went downtown, and stopped at the vintage clothes store, The Get Up. Stayed there for a little while, and then went & ate at Noodles & Co., where I got the buttered noodles with chicken like I have every single time I've gone to Ann Arbor for the last 4 years haha.
Then we went to Encore Records, my favorite place in the entire world.
We were there for about an hour & a half. Matt (Rodeo here on AP) showed up, and Joe left to go to this party that was apparently No Clothes or No Entry, lucky bastard. We looked through the store until closing, and then went to Borders books.
Between Encore & Borders I got:
Gameface - Reminder
Gameface - A Day In June (Hand made/pressed)
Gallows - Orchestra of Wolves
The Casket Lottery - Survival Is For Cowards
The Casket Lottery - Dot Dot Dash Something Or Other Dot
River City High - Forgets Their Manners
The Damn Personals - Driver|Driver
Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
Dear & The Headlights - Small Steps, Heavy Hooves
Margot & The Nuclear So & So's - The Dust of Retreat
Cave In - Moons Of Jupiter
Moving Mountains - Foreword (the CD isn't apparently out yet, but I found it anyway haha)
Inside Out - 6 Songs (pre-Rage Against The Machine)
Manchester Orchestra - I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child
The Nation Of Ulysses - The Embassy Tapes
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
Matt gave me Posi's full-length, which I was stoked to finally have a CD copy of. They're an amazing local band from Kalamazoo, http://myspace.com/posi. He'd also found me an old Limbeck shirt at his Goodwill back home & gave that to me along with a shirt for his PR group, Vanlord.
Joe was creeped on by this crazy girl at the party, so he decided to bail on it and come to the show instead. From my understanding, this is how it went down:
Joe: Girl, did I invite you to my BBQ?
Joe: Girl, then why you all up in my grill?
Joe does not like people all up in his grill.
Stay the fuck out of Joe's grill, people.
Then came the Bars of Gold show. Me, Kris, and Joe were definitely the youngest people there (we're all 20.)
The band played, blew us away, we took pictures & videotaped it & bootlegged it with a cassette recorder. You can download Matt's bootleg here: http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=953982 . Mine & Kris's pictures should be up eventually. We're going to become Fanboys and the 4 of us are going to every Bars of Gold show we can. We'll be there April 11th, and you should be, too.
Then we left. Matt stayed to talk to Marc Paffi. I took Kris home, and then me & Joe went to a party at SAE. Ayres was there and played bass riffs to injured List songs while Dave played a dance beat to them. I sang a little over them while 3 of our friends freestyle-rapped over them. It was really funny.
Then me & Joe went to Tessa's and watched Twilight for the first time. It was terrible and I really regret that decision.
Aside from Twilight, it was an awesome night added to an amazing weekend that's not even over yet.
