We are investigating whether Newport High School students spend more time talking to friends on the phone (including text messaging) or on the internet?
Ud= Uphone- Uinternet
Ho: Ud= 0
Ha: Ud=0
We randomly selected two teachers from Newport and interviewed their class of students.
We gave every teacher at Newport a number then using the random integer function we selected our teachers.

Matched t- test
1) SRS- no, stratified random sample, proceed with caution
2) Population >10n – yes 10(38)= 380 all Newport students is greater then 380. (1554>380)
3) N>40 yes 44>40
DO THE MATH JASON ,& change the U to the mean symbol if you can
p- value = 2p(t>0.345)= 0.73
With a p value of 0.73 we fail to reject the null hypothesis, and conclude that the mean time Newport students spend on the internet and phone each day are the same. | |
