|So today I spent most of the day working on a diorama of my trip to the World of Coca-Cola. I got to play with play-doh, create wallpaper out of a coke containers and photoshop myself into a picture of the coke polar bears. Fun, but not the point of this blog.|
I needed a large space to make the thing, so I did it on the coffee table with the TV on as background noise. And I'll tell you, it was keeping things real. Father of the Bride. Lethal Weapon 3. Hitch. Men in Black II. Perhaps there was a reason it took me like 5 hours to make this thing, but it was worth it because those movies rule.
I'd say Father of the Bride is easily in my top 15 favorite comedies. Steve Martin's nervous, overwhelmed character is an awkward joy the whole way through. The wonderful chemistry between Riggs and Murtaugh is one of our generation's best team roles. Even Rene Russo pulls through with a great performance. Are they any better than 2009's movies in their respective genres? Probably not, but we like what we know. We like what we've seen. We are creatures of been-there. for many things, I don't recommend this lifestyle, but for movies, sure, why not? 2 hours is a long time to waste on something that's terrible, especially if you're just sitting.
