So many good albums...
So many good albums...
09/09/09 at 12:11 PM by Codi23
I can't believe how many good albums are coming out this month, and the next few months. I've listened to a lot of leaks, but fortunately, the albums have been pretty nice (Muse, Everytime I Die, etc.); warranting an actual purchase.

Looking ahead, BTBAM is going to have a new album out in the coming months. Same goes for John Mayer, The Flaming Lips, and a bunch of other solid bands.

I have to say I'm looking forward to BTBAM's the most; I've been watching Colors live and listening to the album quite a bit lately. For some reason, I forgot how much I loved this band. There's nothing like revisiting an album and feeling the same way I did on my first listen way back when: awestruck. I think that's how you can spot a timeless album; I can see myself enjoying it 10 years from now.

I think a lot of the problems some bands are facing with new releases this time around, is topping their last album.

BTBAM: That's going to be very difficult to do.

John Mayer: Continuum is one of my favorite albums, and this next one looks/sounds promising, but I'm not sure how he's going to write a whole album as good as that one.

Muse: Last album was great, new album is great; but I think Black Holes has managed to be a classic album for this decade, whereas The Resistance is not really in that category. It's still a great album, though.

Paramore: I'm pretty sure their next one is going to destroy their last; just from brief glimpses, it sounds like a much better, more varied effort. Their last album's problem, in my opinion, was that it got old way too fast. Not enough variety, and I don't think they hit their own sound yet; I have a feeling this could be the album where they do.

Saosin: It was a letdown. Album was good, but not on par with their first full length, or TTN. I think there was a lot more going on behind this one, and that led to a messy, mainstream sounding record. Every band hits a few roadblocks at some point; let's hope this was just that.

Yeah, this blog was kinda all over the place, but I had to get my word in somewhere. There's been so many releases this year, with a lot of mixed opinions, and it helps to type out some projections and whatnot.

I'm having a difficult time keeping track of all the new stuff I've listened to this year .
