I and Hate and You, High School Theater.
03/21/10 at 07:20 AM by Viva Sonata | Hi, so I just wanted to share with you guys something I saw last night.
Last night was my first time hearing the song I and Love and You by the Avett Brothers, and I was so upset by how I heard it.
A school did a one act performance entitled the same as the song. There were no lines, no dialogue. Just pantomiming to different songs, including the title track to this album.
Their particular scene for this track was a a man and a woman sitting in a cafe, making periodic glances to each other. They then receive visitors - each getting a friend of theirs to come and sit down, and then they leave. The end of the scene is them getting up and turning towards each other, and they stop. Cue awkward lighting change.
Probably the shittiest point of the night was the scene where no music played at all, due to a technical difficulty, and there was maybe...five minutes of pure silence onstage.
Leave it to a bunch of fucking high schoolers to cheapen and downplay what I thought was an awesome song implemented horribly. | |
