- The new Boys Like Girls album isn't bad. I mean, as long as you are expecting some quality pop rock. The lyrics are still mediocre to bad, but it's about at the same level as the new All Time Low album in terms of enjoyment, plus I hear some Bon Jovi attitude on it. Stand Out tracks: Love Drunk, Two Is Better Than One, The Shot Heard Round The World, Go. I might review this, or maybe Joe will, no idea yet.
- The new Shakira song, She Wolf, is totally my jam. Sweet dance beat and great vocals haha, can't get the chorus out of my head, and her little howl in the chorus is adorable.
- Reviews for Showbread, Oh Sleeper, and Breathe Carolina soon.
- New Junk Aesthetic by ETID continues to dominate my ears.
As I stated last week, I created an account at half.com to sell some of my CDs and DVDs, and I have added some more to my inventory today, including CDs from Bright Eyes, Cartel, Boys Night Out, and Alkaline Trio, and some DVD box sets from Grey's Anatomy and The OC (you know for the girl in your life haha) check those out as well as others here: http://shops.half.ebay.com/drewsmedia_W0QQ
No More Stories... by Mew has been dominating my iTunes lately, the more I listen to it, the more I really like it. The album is quickly climbing up my list. 2009 has been a great year for music, it's going to be an absolute headache trying to sort my End of the Year list in November, I will probably revise that list over 100 times. Anyways, the new Mew is out on Aug 25th, so get it, it rules.
I am currently listening to Hellogoodbye's debut Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, and I'm trying to figure out why I gave it so much crap back in 2006. I gave it an average review, so I guess I was fair, but for some reason I'm really digging the album. Maybe because "pop" bands these days are crap like Borkencynde, Millionaires, NeverShoutNever, Breathe Carolina, etc. I am really excited for a new HGB album in the future.
Speaking of Breathe Carolina, I bravely listened to their new album, Hello Fascination, last night, and my goodness it's awful. I will be reviewing it in the next few weeks, but geeez. And some people (from what I read on twitter) think it's strange that I think this album is awful, I still can't believe there are people out there who think this band is good.
So I am selling some of my CDs and DVDs, about 130 CDs and 7 DVDs to be exact, on half.com. All of my CDs are marked as "brand new" or "like new," and the prices range between $1 to $10, so you won't get ripped off. So if you are in the CD shopping mood, check out my link: http://shops.half.ebay.com/drewsmedia_W0QQ
No I haven't heard Daisy, but it may be a very polarizing record that people hate. Even more so than The Devil and God.... Finally, I am semi-excited for this record, hell, I'll even put on TDAG and listen to it now, first time in months.
The polarizing comment is just based off a hunch, after seeing the pre-order and how they've been handling things.
Forgot about this album: Motion City Soundtrack is going to release their fourth album this fall, titled My Dinosaur Life, that album shoots right to the top 3 of my most anticipated for the rest of the year, very excited for this.
I've been lucky, I've gotten to hear the majority of my most anticipated albums of 2009 so far, there are really only about 8 albums I'm dying to hear for the rest of 2009, they are:
Tegan and Sara - Sainthood (10/27)
Say Anything - Say Anything (TBA)
Clipse - Till The Casket Drops (10/20)
Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3 (9/11)
Imogen Heap - Ellipse (8/25)
Relient K - Forget and Not Slow Down (10/6)
John Mayer - Battle Studies (TBA)
The Ataris - TBA (TBA)
Am I forgetting anything (please don't mention Brand New)?
