These are some of the best songs I've heard this year.
Thrice - Talking Through Glass
Fightstar - Colours Bleed To Red
Set Your Goals - Our Ethos - A Legancy To Pass On
Third Eye Blind - Bonfire
New Found Glory - 47
meWithoutyou - The Fox & The Crow
Broadway Calls - Sundowners
Propaghandi - Night Letters
The Dangerous Summer - Reach For The Sun
All The Day Holiday - Real Time
Third Eye Blind - Ursa Major:
I love this band so much. I've loved them since their S/T and i've loved every release. In the end, "Out Of Vein" was my favorite, so I really looked forward to their new album. I've given the new album a few spins and with every listen it get's better. The first songs really rock while the second half is more softer but hey, I don't complain, the songs are really wel-structured and beatiful. Also, the lyrics are top-notch. Summer-town is gonna make them big again when that song hits the radio.
Dear Landlord - Dream Homes:
Shit, this record came totally unexpected for me! Really really great punkrockalbum! I love the singer's raw voice and the songs sometimes reminds me of The Bouncing Souls, wich is certainly no bad thing.
Broaway Calls - Good Views, Bad News:
This is my summeralbum of 2009, no doubts about it. Fucking great melodies, great singalongs and for pop-punk, great lyrics. This band deserves to be big, it's everything you want from pop-punk, i can't believe people don't sing along when they hear "i'm just a kid with a song in my head and a face in my heart"! Excellent.
It's maybe because this album meant a lot to me personally but besides that, it's still criminally underrated. It's very dark but I just love this guy his voice. His lyrics are phenomal too. I don't know wich band sounds like them cause they have such a unique sound, it's just rock. They've played together with Thrice so fans of that band will like this anyway I think. Just check it out, it's beautiful.
Walking home as the streetlights are turning off, And the pen on the papers is hardly dry at all, My bloodshot eyes struggle to adjust to the sun, I always thought but I had hoped that I was wrong.
When I heard this album for the first time, I thought it was OK. Decent. But every time after that first listen, this album just kept getting better & better! And now, a few months after the release, I believe this can be the best album I've heard this year. The passionate voice, the beautiful lyrics, the fantastic hooks, I love everything about it. In the last few months, my favorite song of this album changed every time I listened to it, that says a lot about the quality.
I really found the simple things live closest to your home I'm not alone because I live inside a world that is my own I haven't found what I've been looking for yet but you can count on me to stay forever
I just love those lines so much, but I could pick so much others that hit me too.
Allright, it has already been a great year for music but their are still a plenty of albums I'm looking forward too.
These are my most anticiapted releases for the rest of this year.
1. The Ataris
2. Say Anything
3. Third Eye Blind
5. Motion City Soundtrack
6. Anchor & Braille
7. Relient K
9. Strike Anywhere
10. A Wilhelm Scream
Fuck, I'm so stoked for the new Ataris! Anyone else? It's that kind of band where I got a personal connection with so these guys will always be special to me. And according to their brilliant new song this will live up my high expectations.
As for the rest, c'mon, when you see this list, it's unbelievable this will all happen the next six months. Great times for music!
I honestly don't understand why this album isn't become bigger. It's pure punkrock with here and there some pop-punk & hardcore influences. It's almost perfect. I highly suggest to check this out, punkrock as it should be!
I"ve had a great time yesterday with my girlfriend. We've been to DOUR, that's a festival here in Belgium, well known for its variety of genres. Actually, the only band I wanted to see was The Gaslight Anthem. Fuck, that band is so amazing live, their performance was perfect. I think I love that band more than anything in the world the day I listened for the first time to 'the 59' Sound'. Standing in the front line with my girlfriend dancing on "casanova baby", damn, I want to live forever.
Besides of that a lot of other things impressed me like 65daysofstatic, damn, how can their possible be so much different between sounding on CD and live? Really, if you ever have the chance, check them out!
Allright, it's been a good year for music so far, these are the ten albums I loved most:
1. All The Day Holiday - The Things We've Grown To Love
2. The Dangerous Summer - Reach For The Sun
3. Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
4. Propaghandi - Supporting Caste
5. New Found Glory - Not Without A Fight
6. meWithoutyou - It's All Crazy...
7. Fightstar - Be Human
8. All Time Low - Nothing Personal
9. This Is A Standoff - Be Dissapointed
10. A Day To Remember - Homesick
Taking Back Sunday
Allright, this is gonna be a feature in my blog that needs no further explanation. Yesterday, I spinned an old record from a band called "Letter Kills". They have only one album but I really love "The Bridge". It's powerful, it has a special rock & roll vibe that I really dig and the singer sounds really good, specially the screams are unique. It's a shame these guys broke up a long time ago. Underrated album, check it out!
This is my first entry in my very first blog. I'm curious how long this will last but i'm gonna try to update this very regular. Maybe I should start with a list of my favorite albums so you people know what kind of music I prefer.
Blink 182 - Enema Of The State
Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Amber Pacific - The Possibility And The Promise
Anberlin - Cities
Finch - What It Is To Burn
Much The Same - Survive
Saves The Day - Stay What You Are
Green Day - Nimrod
The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About
The Ataris - Blue Skies...
Slick Shoes - Burn Out
Allright, I can keep going but I'm gonna stop here. It's obvious I like pop-punk, punkrock, pop-rock and probably some other genres that I don't know there's already a name for. I mean, I don't really care much for a genre, if it's good, it's good.
What I'm gonna do today? First, go to work (holidayjob, I don't know how it's called in english), then go on with some friends and some beer with our LOST-marathon from season 5. Yesterday we've done the first six episodes and it's great as always. What are your thoughts about the new season?
