| TWENTY QUESIONS WITH CHRISROQ & DARK EVERY DAY |
| Dark Every Day is an Austin, Texas based metal band, by way of Brenham, with a style combining punk, heavy metal, hardcore, and hard rock all in one. With one album under they're belts a topping followup is often dificult even for artists with superstar status."DARK EVERY DAY" apperantly does not have that problem. They're new single "BURNING" should be at the top of the charts soon with the help of they're label Rat Pak records and they're growing legion of fans(including babynabi and myself).I don't want to detract from they're story.( a fifteen year old guitar player and pat a double amputee). But i'm sure the band want's to let they're music do the talking...and that it does...with a vengance...and so....here it is......TWENTY QUESTIONS WITH DARK EVERY DAY...1. Who are D. E. D.? Dark Every Day is composed of: Tony – Vocals/Bass, Manuel – Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, Wally – Rhythm Guitar, and Patrick – Drums 2. Why the name D. E. D.? Our name Dark Every Day reflects on the times we're living in. The economy, wars and conflicts, things seem to be getting “darker” every day. But with our music we want to give people something to look to in their troubled times, something to channel all of their frustrations and fears through. 3. Who are your biggest influences? Each of us have a huge list of artists we like and that have influenced our own styles. Collectively we all pretty much like the same styles of music: metal, hard rock, hardcore, punk; all these show in our own music as well. 4. You're way too young to be as good as you are, to what do you attribute that fact? We all have put in countless hours of practice, practice and more practice. We also make sure to keep a hold of our drive and determination, that's what pushes us to stay the course and push forward. 5. Who's the lead singer and where does he draw that deep monotone from? Our lead singer is Tony. 6. Who is Tish Meeks? Do you think having a mentor gives you an advantage as a developing band? Tish Meeks is the lead singer for another Rat Pak Records band, 3 Kisses. We owe so much to Tish and her band, from showing us all of the business aspects of having a band, to helping us in our writting proccess, to just being an awesome friends to us! 7. Who handles the song writing? Is it a collaborative effort? We all contribute our own thoughts and visions to every song. 8. Your debut album, W. T .F. (Walking Through Fire), did it come pretty easily or did it take a while? We had a handful of songs before we were even signed to Rat Pak Records. When we signed and learned that we would record an album we got to work at writting enough for a full-length release. Some songs came easier than others but we are pleased with what we put out on W. T. F. 9. Very few artists find a way to top their first album, do you have more stuff for a second? We are currently writting and composing songs for our next realease. The new songs are sounding good and we're super excited to release them and let everyone else hear them as well. Our next album is going to be recorded in early August. 10. How did “Burning” come about? "Burning" came about at an all night practice/writting session we had. There was a basic idea as to what we wanted and we built off of it. The song was given some final touches in the studio and we are very proud of how it turned out! 11. Are you planning a video to support "Burning"? Maybe, maybe not, it's a secret for now! 12. How did your deal with Rat Pak come about? Tish from 3 Kisses actually pitched us to Joe from Rat Pak Records. He saw the want and ambition we had, and Tish had no problem confirming that to him. Soon after, we signed on as a developing artist. 13. And Patrick's deal with Shine Drums, how's that going? He is very excited and already has his new kit in the works! There will be pictures on our MySpace but you'll be able to see it at all of our shows as soon as it's in. 14. You're playing a lot around Texas, are you planning a bigger tour? When? Rat Pak Records has a few thing in the works. No word yet on when but keep in touch with us and you'll know as soon as we do! 15. You seem to have a good report with your fans, any thoughts? We love our fans, they are who we do all of this for. We hope that our music has touched them and been there for them when they needed someone. 16. Everybody's on the net these days looking for some love, do you think the internet is a good forum/venue for music, and for D. E. D. in particular? The internet is an amazing place to promote your band and music. When pirating comes into the picture it puts an ugly scar on some that is free, accessible to so many, 17. How are your iTunes sales going? All of our online sales are going well, as well as in person/at concerts. You can pick up our album on iTunes, Napster, Amazon and Rhapsody. 18. Whats next for D. E. D.? We have a few things in the works: music video, compilation CD's, and maybe a few more surprises. 19. Predict your future... Dark Every Day will keep rocking until we can't anymore. 20. Any closing thoughts? Feel free to add anything else you want! Thank you for everyone's love and support! We hope you stick with us for years to come and we promise to put all of ourselves in our music. | | Tags: dark every day, myspace, myspace music, chrisroq, facebool |
