today was our last day of recording. all the final touches (guitar solos, extra keys, space noises, etc.) this is always my favorite day becasue it is where we get to be really creative and come up with totally new studd that ends up really making the songs. and not to pump up our own cd too much but i thought our songs sounded good today, but after we were all done, crap. its gonna be a rocking cd.
again, the album title will be 'Maps'. there will be eight songs, seven full band and one acoustic (recorded, mixed, etc. by our own matt greco). artwork is on its way.
the album will be in the mixing process for about a week and or two, and then mastered after that, so expect an announcement around the first week or so of march about a release date.
also be sure to keep up on our studio updates at(www.youtube.com/sceneinstereo) or(www.myspace.com/sceneinstereo), and be on the lookout for a brand new video in the next few days.
thanks, and we cant wait to bring these tunes to your ears.
-joe, scene in stereo.
so we were back at it this weekend as we approach the final day of recording on our new record. things are going swimmingly and sounding better by the day. we have one more day of tracking left (next satuday) and then we will be officially done redording. after that it is off to be mixed and mastered, with a release date sometime around the beginning of march.
head on over to www.myspace.com/sceneinstereo to check out our next video in the chronicles of recording. this shows the beginning of our time at opal studios in portland, where the rest of the album was recorded.
evening once again.
got some more vocals done in a shorter session tonight, for the song currently titled 'alive' (also on our myspace). vocals on two songs remain. but we are all headed back to eugene this coming week, so it is time for a bit of a break.
we will be making a few more trips up on weekends, etc. to finish up the two songs, then it is time for adding all the extra stuff like backups and a choir of bells. we are also adding some gang vocals so if anyone knows of any good gangs to join, we figure that would be the best way to go about getting that done.
everything is sounding great so far and coming together nicely. we are so excited to get these songs out.
more to come very soon.
got some more vocals done today; walls and turn around. they are two of the demos up on our myspace now, so if for some ridiculous reason you havent, go take a listen, foo (www.myspace.com/sceneinstereo). they are our oldest songs to date, but good none the less. old is sometimes good. like ben. he is old, but sometimes good.
and we are still in the process of thinking about an album title. so if any of you have suggestions, shoot. here, there is no such thing as a bad idea.
except jeff's idea: 'countdown to christmas'. that is bad and unseasonal and irrelevant.
but for anyone else, go for it.
we have posted the first video installment of our journey through this record on our myspace (www.myspace.com/sceneinstereo). the video shows tracking for the acoustic song on the album, which was done down in Eugene at Sprout City Studios. and remember this is the song we have been working on ourselves, so be sure to pay extra close attention to matt as he gets behind the buttons and knobs in this one. more to come very soon.
hello and greetings in the new year.
today we went back into the studio to begin tracking vocals. the lead is done on two songs, and they happen to be my two favorites so it is pretty much all downhill from here.
but you know. we will be putting in half days through the rest of this week and, jeff's cold permitting, we hope to get through 2-3 songs a day.
as always, thanks for reading.
