2014 was a great year. My tastes is music have changed severely from my taste in years past, as I expanded my musical palate, if you will, to more genres of music. My list includes everything from radio pop to heavy metal core and everything in-between. This end of the year list is probably my most diverse ever, and I can't wait to see what music 2015 has in store.
Top 15 (other than the first two, the rest are in no particular order)
1. Copeland - Ixora
What an album. This record has been getting me through some stuff, and the best time to listen to it as it night when its cold outside and just sit back and let Copeland do what they do best.
2. PVRIS - White Noise
This band will take over the world in 2015. The whole is fantastic, and I will make it a point to see them live at least once in 2015.

I could start this post by saying that 2013 has been a crazy and long year, but that's what everyone does. So i'm gonna just say that 2013 has been one of the best years i've had in a while, and I expect 2014 to be even better. There was a lot of great music I listened to in 2013, but also a lot i had not gotten a chance to listen too.If you told me that I would have pop-punk releases on my list at the beginning of this year, i probably would have laughed and said that would never happen. But it did, So let's get this started:
Top Twelve Records
1. Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal
When I listened to this album all the way through the day it came out, I knew this was gonna be my number 1 at the end of the year. I get lost in the record every time i listen to it, and i listen to it at least once a day. Thats how great it is. And i never listened to the band before this release, so thats saying a lot.
2. Fall Out Boy - Save Rock and Roll
This record is fantastic. There isn't a bad song on this record, and whenever i need something to listen to, i can always go back to this. When i first heard it, Where Did The Party Go was my least favorite, and now i'm 110% positive that that sing is the best off the album. Great comeback album, and long live FOB.
3. Fit For A King - Creation/Destruction
At first, i didn't give this record a shot, because i hadn't been a huge fan of the band before hand. But after hearing from people how heavy this release was, i decided to give it a go. And i'm glad i did. This record is great all the way through, with each song being unique with its screams and heavy guitar riffs. And the production on this record is phenomenal.
4. State Champs - The Finer Things
This band is from my area, so its been awesome to watch them grow up and get bigger. They'll blow up in 2014, being this years The Story So Far. Every song on the album is awesome, and my favorite song changes weekly because they're all so great. Can't wait too see what they do in 2014, and hopefully they'll put a new single or EP.
5. Balance and Composure - The Things We Thing We're Missing
I decided to check this out after a recommendation from one of my fellow users on this site, and i thank them, because thus turned out to be one of my favorite releases this year. Tiny Raindrop is my favorite song off the record, but honestly every song is worthy of that title. Its a very relatable record, and the lyrics really speak to me. Great record to listen too at night.
6. I Can Make A Mess - Enola
I hadn't checked out any other ICMAM records before hand, but when i heard Rise was putting out Ace's record, decided to check it out. Its great songwriting, and it's my go to when i want soft acoustic music. Overall a great record, really grows on you with time.
7. Moving Mountains - Moving Mountains
I'm sad that this band broke up, but i'm happy at the fact that they went out on top. This record is fantastic, has great melodies and guitar lines, and production is great. I'm a little upset i didn't catch one of their farewell shows, but this record tells me that this band wanted to go out with a bang. And thats exactly what they did.
8. Northlane - Singularity
This band will blow up in 2014, and their tour with BMTH is a good start. This is a great record, and when i need a heavy fix, i can always come back to this. Excited to see what moves they make in 2014.
9. The Devil Wears Prada - 8:18
I tried to get into this band, and it wasn't happening. But when i heard Gloom when i was checking this out initially, everything about this band clicked. I was hooked. And while i haven't been able to check out a lot of the bands past releases, i doubt any will top this one.
10. Citizen - Youth
I love this record. Its very laid back, and i love the singers voice and grit, along with emotion. I can tell that he's pouring his heart out into the lyrics and singing, and it shows. The music is simple, but thats okay. This record has power behind it.
11. My Ticket Home - Strangers Only
I had the first single of this record before it was released to the public, so i had a head start with their new style change. And honestly they killed it. The new clean vocalist is great, with lots of grit, and the screamer can yell his head off. They are bringing back that old style of nu-metal, and they're doing it right.
12. Night Verses - Lift Your Existence
This moved up the list quite a bit the past few weeks. I liked a few songs off the record initially, but when i saw this band on the No Place tour in early november, i knew this band had something special. The energy, the ability to sound like their record live, and the brilliant song writing sets them apart. Crummett's production kills on this record, and some of the samples they use blow me away. Top notch musicianship for sure. This band will continue to grow in 2014, and i could see them moving to a bigger label, a la Rise or Fearless.
Top 3 EP's
1. Pentimento - Inside The Sea
The album art on this record is fantastic, and these guys are from my area, so i'm rooting for them. Excited to see what they put out in 2014, which will probably be an album, and see how they can expand off this EP.
2. Beartooth - Sick
This band is going to blow up in 2014. I can guarantee it. They'r gonna put out a great record in 2014, and with mastermind Caleb Shomo as the bands leader, i see this band becoming big in the scene. Watch out.
3. Their/There/They're - Their/There/They're
I really like Evan's music so when i checked this out i was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully i'll be able to check them out more as the year progresses, and would love to see them live if they came my way.

Most Listened To Album That Wasn't Released This Year Acceptance - Phantoms
I discovered this record after i heard that Bad Timing was pressing it on vinyl. I checked it out and instantly fell in love. I had heard In Too Far before, but the other songs are fantastic. This album is now in my top five favorites of all time. I would kill to see them play a reunion show, and have Jason Vena sing these songs to me live.
