And you can try to fight this all you want,
but I won't be there, I won't be there when you're all alone.
This new season, it brings with it signs of hope, hope.
Now you can't leave me, you can't leave me waiting all alone, all alone.

And I know, there is
Some place I can go
Where no one knows my name.

And I can still remember, you know I can still hear your voice, your voice.
Although your silence, your silence still rings so clear.
And do you think, and do you think I would call
just to hear you breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe?
You always knew, you always knew that just one word would dry up all my tears.

And I know there is
Some place I can go
Where no one knows my name, my name
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name

day old hate
12/05/08 at 05:28 PM by .invisible ink.

So let's face it this was never what you wanted
But I know it's fun to pretend
Now blank stares and empty threats
Are all I have, they're all I have.

So drown me and if you can
Or we could just have conversation.
And I fall, I fall, I falter
But I'll find you before I drift away

Now you still speak of day old hate
Though your whole world has gone up into flames
And isn't it great to find that you're really worth nothing
And how safe it is to feel safe.

So drown me and if you can
Or we could just have conversation.
And I fall, I fall, I falter
But I'll find you before I drift away

The things we do just to stay alive
The things we do just to stay alive
The things we do just to stay alive
The things we do just to keep ourselves alive.

Google does it again
11/24/08 at 11:23 AM by .invisible ink.
As I'm sitting here bored to death, wondering how I'm going to kill another 9 hours tomorrow in the office, I have discovered something incredible.

Google, you are to be commended and applauded. I bet that you haven't yet seen this amazing new beta from Google: http://books.google.com , if you have and you aren't shouting about it from the rooftops, then you are a fool because this is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I'll sum it up for those of you too lazy to actually play around with it. Type in your favorite author and bam! their books are right there in your "library" for you to read. No more having to go to the library or bookstore - you have all the books you could ever want right there on your computer screen waiting to read. It's incredible, I swear. They have so many books that I've been dying to get my hands on, and now they are right there whenever I want them. To say I'm stoked is an understatement.

In addition to this fantastic discovery, I have rediscovered another favorite site - http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

This one is to actually download books onto your computer, so you can read without being online. I need this as I'm quite often stuck in a room in a bank with nothing to do but look at my laptop, generally without an internet connection, although sometimes I do luck out and can surf the web. The books found on this website fall more into the "classics" and "books you've never heard of but they're old so they must be pretty famous" categories. I've gotten quite a few good ones from there, but it's more like searching for a needle in a haystack to find a book you've actually had on your mind to read in this site. It's a massive free book project so it takes some time and patience to go through it, but it's quite easy and pretty sweet.

So anyway, that's what I've got to entertain myself for the next 2.5-3 hours today and 9 tomorrow. Whee! I hope others appreciate this stuff as much as I do.

when
11/23/08 at 03:14 PM by .invisible ink.
does it get better? when does life stop sucking for more than a little glimpse into what could possibly be?

life isn't supposed to feel this way. at least not for as long as it has. i'm sick of trying to make due with the cards i've been dealt. yeah, i'm sure this sounds like i'm wallowing in self-pity, and maybe i am, but seriously, i try so fucking hard and never make any headway. i'm so sick of trying.

*sigh*
11/20/08 at 07:47 PM by .invisible ink.
Sirens ring, the shots ring out
A stranger cries, screams out loud
I had my world strapped against my back
I held my hands, never knew how to act

And the same black line that was drawn on you
Was drawn on me
And now its drawn me in
6th avenue heartache

Below me was a homeless man
I'm singin' songs I knew complete
On the steps alone, his guitar in hand
Its fifty years, stood where he stands

Now walkin' home on those streets
The river winds move my feet
Subway steam, like silhouettes in dreams
They stood by me, just like moonbeams

Look out the window, down upon that street
And gone like a midnight was that man
But I see his six strings laid against that wall
And all his things, they all look so small
I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star
Just like me-just moved on

quicksand
11/20/08 at 03:50 AM by .invisible ink.
When I bring it up
You shut me out
So I keep on writing letters to myself
Are you doing alright
Are you burning out
Are you happy with the way it turned out
Running out of you
Running out of you
And I know you'll be running out of me
Are you holding up
Are you caving in
Are you happy with the way things have been
Running out of you
Running out of you
And I know you'll be running out of me
When it starts sinking in
Like quicksand
I can't stand
Watching the best of me
Go down with
The worst of you
Are you doing alright
Are you burning out
Are you happy with the way things turned out
Running out of you
Running out of you
And I know you'll be running out of me

ENFJ
11/18/08 at 04:53 PM by .invisible ink.
In response to a thread that was posted today, I retook the Jung Typology Test. I hadn't taken it in many years, and I'm a little surprised to see that I've changed, but not by much. I think I used to be a ENFP.

So anyway, here's my personality type profile which is so freaking spot-on it's insane.

Idealist Portrait of the Teacher (ENFJ)

Even more than the other Idealists, Teachers have a natural talent for leading students or trainees toward learning, or as Idealists like to think of it, they are capable of calling forth each learner's potentials. Teachers (around two percent of the population) are able - effortlessly, it seems, and almost endlessly-to dream up fascinating learning activities for their students to engage in. In some Teachers, this ability to fire the imagination can amount to a kind of genius which other types find hard to emulate. But perhaps their greatest strength lies in their belief in their students. Teachers look for the best in their students, and communicate clearly that each one has untold potential, and this confidence can inspire their students to grow and develop more than they ever thought possible.
In whatever field they choose, Teachers consider people their highest priority, and they instinctively communicate personal concern and a willingness to become involved. Warmly outgoing, and perhaps the most expressive of all the types, Teachers are remarkably good with language, especially when communicating in speech, face to face. And they do not hesitate to speak out and let their feelings be known. Bubbling with enthusiasm, Teachers will voice their passions with dramatic flourish, and can, with practice, become charismatic public speakers. This verbal ability gives Teachers a good deal of influence in groups, and they are often asked to take a leadership role.
Teachers like things settled and organized, and will schedule their work hours and social engagements well ahead of time-and they are absolutely trustworthy in honoring these commitments. Valuing as they do interpersonal cooperation and harmonious relations, Teachers are extraordinarily tolerant of others, are easy to get along with, and are usually popular wherever they are.
Teachers are highly sensitive to others, which is to say their intuition tends to be well developed. Certainly their insight into themselves and others is unparalleled. Without a doubt, they know what is going on inside themselves, and they can read other people with uncanny accuracy. Teachers also identify with others quite easily, and will actually find themselves picking up the characteristics, emotions, and beliefs of those around them. Because they slip almost unconsciously into other people's skin in this way, Teachers feel closely connected with those around them, and thus show a sincere interest in the joys and problems of their employees, colleagues, students, clients, and loved ones.

Oprah Winfrey, Pope John Paul II, Ralph Nader, John Wooden, and Margaret Mead are examples of Teacher Idealists.

keep pushing me away until there's nothing left
so self-entwined you can't see what you're doing even though the whole world is watching and waiting for the combustion to set fire to everything you touch

i just sit here wishing for it to end
put me out of my misery

lemur
11/16/08 at 08:20 AM by .invisible ink.
This Town Needs Guns is my new obsession. I did get really turned on shortly by Razia's Shadow, but the more I listened, the more it felt like some cheap Disney film - it's not bad, but it's nowhere near as powerful as The Dear Hunter, but I will give it a few more spins before I commit to those feelings fully.

Anyway, back to This Town Needs Guns. Lemur, this one pretty much sums up how I'm feeling at this exact moment.

Whatís this?
Donít bother listing your dependencies.
We already know that youíve got them.
Youíve photographed the bottom glass
and it tastes like fear.
Youíre afraid of what might be.
You know from the get go itís over
itís already fallen apart.
You know from the get go itís over
itís already fallen apart.

Identify whatís yours and whatís mine,
the rest will be our secret.
I wonít apologize for what is right Iím just letting go
of what mightíve been.
You know from the get go itís over
itís already fallen apart.
You know from get go itís over
itís already meant from the start
and you know from get go
itís already fallen apart.
You know in time as much wouldíve happened to us,
our feelings blow out like a lamp light.

one more day
11/10/08 at 02:41 AM by .invisible ink.

Well I saw you fall back once love.
But I can't stay.
Stay like this weather swirls,
Cause you've become sick like this winter girl.
Two more days, just two more.

Now I see.
Don't you say that I've gone crazy.
Because I haven't gone crazy yet.
I just lost my mind,
But I still got you.

Stay up late so you're sure.
Sure that I wont stray too far,
But surely that got too hard.
Love is not for me,
I promise.
One more day, just one more.

I'd Stay If I ever could,
Stay if I ever could.
And pick up your pieces babe,
Cause there's never a perfect day.

Be Here Now
09/01/08 at 08:56 AM by .invisible ink.
How many days are your afraid
Of turning off?
You'd be amazed how easy
It's been to sleepwalk.
I'm in a state where I can't tell what's right from wrong
I'm making a face
That I've been holding for far too long.

I'm on the cross
There's nothing to hide when all is lost.
I'm on the cross
A truth or a lie, which could be worse?

How many days until
I can see that I'm just fine?
I try and I try but i just need a little time
I haven't slept in one month
Things just don't seem okay
And every time the sun's up
It's a new yesterday

Drill the pressure right out of my head.
Maybe I'm scared.
Maybe i am
Weak and paranoid
When i speak white noise
Pours out from my voice.
Every time i move my lips, it tears
Your little ears to bits
I'm frozen all the time, a deer in headlights
I'll get to the point
You can't depend on love or truth
To get your through

Do you want me to explain?
Are you broken at the bone?
Do you try and rearrange
A better life,
A bigger home?
So turn off the lights
Or at least unplug the phone
I'm a threat when I'm left alone
How many days
Are you afraid of turning off?
Do you feel like letting go?

It's been a good life, I'll be sad to see it go
