I'm really into it lately. I feel it's a great way to just voice out your opinion about anything. It's simple, easy, and John Mayer has it.

Follow me? (Sounds pretty stalker-ish, doesn't it?)

Spring Street

Just a poem I wrote..

2 AM on an arctic Thursday

Night’s come with its hoards of people walking on Spring

Wearing socks with sandals

Names like Jessie, Alex and Taylor

Guys dressed in wool jackets

Calling themselves animal lovers to impress their cute indie girlfriends

A world of hypocrites and liars

Walking by Café Bari, hell has broken loose

Demons in Armani Suits doused in Absolute and Whisky with girls half their age

Ignorant wives waiting at home with food on the table

Passing by the abandoned war heroes, they leave only a penny

A world of sleaze and sin

These veterans, the bums outside Café Bari with no right hands

They plead for more, because you can’t get good alcohol with a damn penny

A world of disgrace and scandal

Pacing down Pink Berry, Green berry, and Yellow Berry

They’re all the same, same people there too

Young beautiful single woman in their twenties

Fixing their hair

Using Lipstick, mascara and blush to be adored

Paying for plastic surgery just to make them smile

A world of insecurity and anxiety

Wandering by the subway

Glancing at the wicked business men

Dealing marijuana to teens with long hair and skateboards

Everyone has a mortgage to pay

A world of withdrawal and dishonesty

These troubled teens stealing money from their parent’s wallets

So they can smoke another hit and escape reality, neglect their dead father, and disregard the lack
of love from the living.

A world of thieves and recklessness

Old men in worn out dirty gloves preaching the lord’s name

A group listening and obeying

They’ll buy anything to save them from their sins

A world of Desperation and need

A girl on a bench with a notebook and pen

Silent and observant

Waiting for acknowledgement, waiting for anything

A world of loneliness and cruelty

A world called New York City

Album Review: The Perfect Mistake - Armisticee

The Perfect Mistake - Armistice
Record Label: 7-9 Records (Indie)
Release Date: September 9th, 2008 (Digitally released)
Band Myspace: www.myspace.com/theperfectmistakenyc
Band Website: Tpmrock.com

Most times, when you listen to an unsigned band or Indie label signed band you understand why they don't have a label supporting them. You can tell that they need to mature as a band or are quite frankly not good enough. Although this band The Perfect Mistake, is a special case.

Fuse has actually labeled this band "The best unsigned back in the country" last April and surprisingly enough they have yet to find the right label to support them. The last time I saw this band live was when they opened for All Time low at the Knitting Factory in New York in the summer. They were fantastic performers and said they were writing an album. A year later I find out that this band wrote, produced, engineered the entire album themselves which is very impressive. I was ecstatic to hear the album with high anticipation. And Sure enough, it's actually better than I expected.

Musically speaking it's very diverse. The album ranges from the energetic poppy opener "Sound of Music" to the next hard hitting dark "Confessions from the frontline" to the classic rock based "Two to Tango" and to the piano ballad "Spring". Although my favorite song is the second to last track "Children of the sky". It's beautifully written and just gives me the chills every time I listen to it. The lyrics sining "When did our fate become bought and sold/lets take back what they stole/and re-conquer our souls." and breaking into a beautiful chanting children choir "We will march with our pride". Another track to check out it "Autumn" the last track on the album which is a sweet beautiful love song. The lyrics go "So shed some skin for me/ so I can think about the days where we walked through colored trees/ all was fine in make believe."

This is without a doubt the best album I have ever heard by any unsigned band. It ranks as one of the year and I honestly won't be surprised if we all see this album on the shelves of Best Buy soon. Or catch each other singing along to "Sound of Music" while driving in the car. If you have been living under a rock and have yet to find about this band- I urge you to check them out, you won't be disappointed.

It started feeling like October...

This week has been very interesting. It's been a Jewish holiday almost all week so I've consequently been missing some school work. Anyways I'm writing my first blog EVER to just recommend a couple of things.

Movies:

Choke:I personally thought it was a really good adaptation of the novel, despite the mixed reviews. Also my cousin Jonah Bobo acted in it (he was Victor as a child) and i thought he was fabulous! Definitely go see that flick.

TV:

Dexter: I just got into Dexter last week (caught up). It's right down my alley and can't believe I haven't been watching since day 1. The main character is a murderer and what's unbelieveable is how much sympathy I have for him- being that he's a fucking killer. Get into Dexter if you aren't already!!!

Music:

I've been listening to "the glass passenger (Jack's Mannequin), "shudder"(Bayside), "new surrender" (Anberlin), "split the country, split the street" (Kevin Devine)

All amazing albums, so go listen!

also the new manchester documentary ep/dvd was great, go buy that and go GIANTS!!!!!!!!
