Back in the summer of '07, I debated getting either Underclass Hero by Sum 41 or Paper Walls by Yellowcard. As much as I loved Yellowcard and Ocean Avenue, I remember listening to Lights and Sounds and being somehwat disappointed. I chose Underclass Hero and now, 2 years later and almost to the day when I originally got that album, that was one of the worst purchases I had gotten up to that point. When I got Underclass Hero, I found myself skipping every other song and hugely disappointed, then 3 months later, when I had the money to buy Paper Walls, I realized that is one of the most complete albums I have ever listened to. Every song related to me and I kept repeating some songs even before I heard the whole album. Then in May '08, I heard that Yellowcard was on hiatus and to this day, they still are. To be honest, I was sad at that point when I heard the news because their music is my favorite kind and that record was so big on me. Flash forward to a couple of nights ago and I saw that Ryan Key, the lead singer and guitarist from Yellowcard, is in a side project for the time called Big If. When I listened to the songs, I found that same type of music that was in Paper Walls and Yellowcard throughout. In conclusion of this entry, in my opinion, Paper Walls is one of the best albums I have ever heard and is one of the best of the decade. I hope one day Yellowcard can get back together and I won't pass up another Yellowcard album ever again.
If you want to check out Big If, go to their Myspace profile. Trust me, if you are a Yellowcard fan, you won't be disappointed. | | Tags: Yellowcard, Paper Walls |
