Blink 182 are a band I simply can't grow out of ... I can try ... but I will not be successful.
They've simply been too big a part of my life for too long. I remember the long family car rides with just a handful of CDs and a walkman. I remember listening to Dude Ranch so many times it wouldn't play anymore. I remember the music being there for me during the worst times of my life - and some of the best. I remember eating just a bagel for lunch so I could save up enough money to buy their new albums. I remember seeing the shows with my friends back in high-school ... and now I have a memory of seeing the band with the woman I plan to spend the rest of my life with. I'm 26. I'm still a Blink-182 fan. Deal with it.
The show itself was great - the banter between Mark and Tom as inappropriate as ever. The lyrical changes in songs that make every parent in the audience cringe. And three guys really just having fun. That's what I remember more than anything. The music wasn't perfect yet it added character. It was a refreshing change from the quantized perfect pop-punk shows I've seen lately. Nostalgia mixed with wishes of going down on Oprah. What more could a guy ask for?
Three guys having fun. Enjoying playing music. Enjoying each others company. And an audience screaming along to every word. Thank you Blink ... for the memories you've given me ... and the memories still to come.
The Blink 182 show was great last night ... I'll post up more thoughts later today after I get some work done. Huge thanks to everyone that hooked us up with great tickets. Blink still outshine all of their peers.
Can't get any other information on this at the moment -- which is why I am posting it here in my blog and not on the homepage -- but this page just showed up in Universal Music's Database (screen shot). Looks like a re-release of Blink 182's self-titled on May 19th ... and it could be a mess up, but aren't those Jam songs at the end? Weird.
Got myself a chrome/six arrow smiley tshirt. Figured after the last few days I might as well pick one up. Show off the Blink love -- been a while since I've worn t-shirt from those guys -- now I can remember the day. Haha.
Holy hell! Finally it's all out there. Over the past 3 days there have been over 25 THOUSAND posts about Blink 182 on this website. Absolute insanity. In the next few days we're going to have to make sure all our content gets updated for their return. Fix up their AP.net profile, tags, news, images, things like that.
Interesting night. We'll see what comes out of it. We did a lot of checking to make sure the screen caps were legit (multiple sources, verified, of being in the chat - that it was David's account, etc.) ... and I emailed literally everyone I know in the Blink camp (no response yet). So ... we'll see. Covered our bases as best we could ... but felt we had enough to run with the story we did (seeing as what we posted is as true as any other story). Now we sit back and wait.
PS: Sorry to the band if we ruined any announcement or anything ... you know I love you. So much. Shoot David, not little messenger me.
