Need Help Brainstorming ...
12/03/08 at 03:00 PM by Jason Tate
I need a contest idea for how to win free tickets to Fall Out Boy's show in Los Angeles on December 8th. I want something that promotes AP.net somehow - best person to do it wins the ticket+1. Something like that ...

Anyone have any good ideas?

Inside AP.net: BBcode Help
11/10/08 at 12:18 AM by Jason Tate
Tonight I fixed up the AP.net BBcode help page for the new skin. Basically this link is on a bunch of places around the new site (like on the footer of all places where you can post) - and I wanted to make sure everything was uniform for the video codes - as well as increase the font to make sure it was easy to read.

We have a variety of places you can embed content from (in posts, blogs, etc.) - and how it's even easier to find all the information about just exactly how to do that. Win.

Tomorrow will be a day of FAQ. I have a vision of making a variety of youtube videos to help within the FAQ -- for all sorts of things, hints, etc. So that there's some text explaining things - as well as a video (with annotations) showing you just how to do it. I think this would be a big help for newbies.

I already have the "need help" stuff linked all around the website ... it's about time those actually are populated with information.

Subtle, Yet Extremely Important

Opinions in this poll would be really helpful.

Basically, you'll be helping determine the font that's used throughout the website in the future.

Random Shout-Out for a Friend
03/26/08 at 02:22 PM by Jason Tate
Want to help a friend of mine? It will only take you like 5 seconds.

Go here > click "vote for this" (it's in the middle) > click "sign in as guest" from the little pop-up menu that shows up (stupid extra step). Click "vote" -- and tada, you've helped.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it.

Basic Sidekick Themes 101
11/01/07 at 11:58 AM by Jason Tate
I've had a few requests from people asking how to put backgrounds on their sidekicks, as well as for the files I used for my "Say Anything" theme on mine. So, I figured I'd help out.

First - if you are really technically savvy, you might as well just make your own (you can get really technical with everything you change) ... all the information can be found here.

The easiest way is to download a theme, fire up photoshop, and change the images yourself. My Say Anything one is really, really basic (two images) so it's a good starting point.

Step 1: Download this file.

Step 2: Unzip the file.

Step 3: Plug your Sidekick into your computer (using the USB cord), open up "My Computer" and open up your Sidekick like a removable drive/disc (double click).

Step 4: Create a file called "Themes" (no quotation marks).

Step 5: Double click the folder, drag the unzipped folder (titled "Say Anything") into the "Themes" folder.

Step 6: Unplug Sidekick. On Sidekick push the menu button (upper left) and then go down to "Backgrounds" and then select the "Say Anything" theme. Tada.

Enjoy -- the background looks as such:
