Writing this review was painful, I was in love with this album after the first two weeks, then, after not listening for a day or two and picking it up again, the love affair was lost. All that was left was a disappointment.
So today, I decided to take some initiative and e-mail some labels about releases. I hit up Vagrant for Two Tongues, TMG for The Appleseed Cast, Epitaph for Thursday, and I was looking for an RJA contact, but couldn't find one. I want to hear the record, partially because Steve said that sans "You Better Shoot Yourself In The Foot With A Shitty Single (better known as You Better Pray)" it was actually a pretty decent record, and because I already thought of an awesome intro using the shot in the foot thing. I also don't want to buy it. If anyone knows where a press contact for the band is, I'd love for some help. Also, it's 1:30 AM, I have to get up in 5 hours. I need sleep. Damn.
So, I'm sitting at a table at the concert right now and Forgive Durden just played. They were great, and I'll be interviewing Thomas in a few hours, so, if there are any more questions that anyone wants asked, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org, I want to get the fans the answers that they want.
I'll be interviewing Danger Radio & NEEDTOBREATHE soon. If you have any questions for either of these bands, leave them in the comments or e-mail me at email@example.com. Please specify which band the questions are for.
I got the files to start my review today. After one listen, I immediately starting writing my review. This is going to be a daunting and epic task. I don't know if I'll be wrap my head around this album enough to spit out a coherent review on it. I wrote the introduction, which is three paragraphs and over 350 words. It's going to be ridiculously long, but hopefully people will still read it.
I got two unexpected surprises today in the mail. The new Anathallo album as well as the new album by some band called The Love Willows. I've listened to the Anathallo album twice and it is truly fantastic. The Love Willows album is very reminiscent of the recent Hush Sound release. I like it, but can't see myself listening to it for more than a few weeks. We'll see, but lasting value is definitey that albums biggest problem. I also got the Person L album finally. I really like it, way different that TSL, but really, really good.
So recently I've been reaping the benefits of my staff position at highbeamreview.com. Messaging a bunch of bands and getting pre-release copies. One that I am hands down most excited for is Valencia. The holiday demo is beyond insanely good. I don't give a fuck if it's slightly generic or whatever the cynics are going to say, its pop-punk and it's finest, and that's the most I'm asking for. Among that I'm getting copies of Inept (which has been out) and a copy of Brightwood, which will drop soon. Overall, it's fucking great.
