Holy batman, I really want one of these.
Yesterday, I worked my first day as an intern for 9:30 Club. Two other interns and I (Claudia & Pam ... both awesome) headed to Preakness, an important horse race held every May at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore. Horses, cool. But the real appeal of Preakness are in the in-field activities, which include drinking, throwing beer cans, getting overly wasted, and watching dudes get unnecessarily pissed and socking their buds. Seriously, Preakness is like one HUGE douchebag party. Because we weren't actually there to party, but to pass out flyers (with little to no success ... who cares about paper when you're wasted, man), I don't know if FUN would be the most apt description. I'm more relieved we made it out alive.
Nonetheless, I'm pumped for this internship. Claudia's been with 930 since high school, and she was filling us in on the best parts of job. I can't say I'll be too thrilled if I have to do something like Preakness again, but it looks like my summer is going to involve going to a lot of festivals, which means more time in the sun! And I could never complain about sunshine. I even got a sick (but minor) sunburn from yesterday.
This new Mates of State album, Re-Arrange Us, is really good. I don't care what Pitchfork says. I'm hyped on the vocal trade-off and riffing on "Jigsaw". PUMPED. | | Tags: mates of state, internship, 930 club, douchebags |
