Beau Burchell, founding member of Saosin, will host a free CreativeLive course called "Guerrilla Recording" next month on October 14 beginning at 9:00AM PDT. In this seven-hour course, Burchell will demonstrate how to walk into any recording situation and make the most of it, whether it's with one mic, three mics or a fully staffed studio.
What's with this trend of music publications telling bands to go on hiatus or hold or whatever? Alternative Press just ran an op-ed about how it's time for a new Saosin album with Anthony Green and for Circa Survive to go on hold. Anthony Green responded on Twitter that this is "kind of bullshit." Between this and the "Blink-182 should go back on hiatus" article from a few weeks ago (that we touched on in our podcast), this level of entitlement and telling artists what they should do and where their creative spark should fire -- is starting to rub me the wrong way.
Cove Reber has posted up his thoughts on Saosin's reunion show on his blog.
Last night I got to be a part of the crowd and watch my favorite band of all time play the songs I fell in love with 10+ years ago. I could not be more grateful to share my first time seeing Saosin with everyone in attendance. What you did for me last night will never be forgotten or lost. Everywhere I went with Saosin I made sure that people knew… I am from San Diego. The roles got reversed last night and you put me on your shoulders and gave me the best honor I could have ever asked for. I felt the love and appreciation of every kid who’s life I changed with the songs I am so blessed to say I was a part of. I...
A fan wrote in to let us know that last night at the Saosin show the band pulled former singer Cove Reber up on stage. He didn't perform, but they all embraced.
Last night House of Blues San Diego Saosin pulled up Cove and they all hugged it out & everyone got pretty emotional the crowed was chanting "voices" but he didn't sing. they stuck with the same set list as Anaheim & Pomona dates.
Saosin have announced a Chain Reaction show ... tickets only available in person.
So here's the deal. We're adding a chain reaction show on June 5th. But tickets are only going to be available for purchase in-person (no online) and at various, yet to be announced locations. (Not at the chain box office!) There will be a two ticket max per person and you'll need to present ID at point of purchase and at the door. Ya I know it totally sucks, we get it. But !!! We really wanted to make this smaller venue special for those who actually want to share it with us, And not for the scalpers who want to go live on StubHub . No one should be paying the prices some of these dickheads are selling...
An AP.net reader is an eagle-eyed Saosin loving detective.
I was searching #saosin on Instagram to see if I could see any shirts from the reunion shows. I eventually found one and on the back of the shirt it had the dates of the mini-tour. However, it also had June 5 - Anaheim. An Anaheim date has never been announced. I looked up house of blues and it's booked for that day but chain reaction isn't ... maybe?
Saosin played one of their reunion shows with Anthony Green tonight. You can hit the replies to see the setlist (two new, unnamed songs were played). I saw a few tweets fly by about how epic and amazing and once in a lifetime the show was. Got me thinking: is it just the pains of nostalgia, or isn't that what each show a few years back felt like? I'm glad a new generation is getting to experience some of the excitement I remember about my early 20s. Oh, and a reliable source recently informed me that Saosin basically has an entire full-length of instrumentals already recorded and waiting for vocals. They're quite good. But, more on that later.
Anthony Green has confirmed that Saosin will be playing Translating the Name in full, "Mookie’s Last Christmas," "I Can Tell (There Was An Accident Here Earlier)" ... and some "new ideas" ... at their upcoming shows.
Exactly. That’s a perfect way to put it. All the while, we were still talking to Anthony off and on, but not as seriously. It wasn’t a, “Hey, I’ll rejoin the band” type thing. It was, “Why don’t I just sing on a couple of songs.” One of the Tilian songs got leaked somehow. We got hit up by Anthony because he thought we were going to do some stuff. We were all like, “Well, we weren’t planning on working with Tilian, but it just happened.” So, needless to say, we kind of split things off with Tilian, but we didn’t do it in a good way. The relationship kind of dissolved more passively than we hoped. We didn’t...
