Riot Fest, which features well known rock and punk acts such as Primus, The Cure, Wu-Tang Clan and Slayer, was scheduled for Sept. 19-21 at May Farms in Byers. It made its first appearance in the state last year, also at May Farms. The festival was expected to attract 17,000 people a day to Byers, a town of just over 1,000 residents located about 40 miles east of Denver.
It's not clear how organizers of the festival will deal with the thousands of fans who have purchased tickets to Riot Fest or whether they will try to find an alternate location in the state.
Summer festivals are the perfect analogy for how consumers interact with music in 2014. Our relationship with the industry is more fragmented and there are more pipelines for consumption than ever before. We have access to and are familiar with more artists than we can keep up with. They're on our friends' social media feeds, covered by the blogs we read, and we can listen, pass judgment, and move on to the next thing in an instant. We stream rather than buy. We listen to individual songs, not entire albums. We don't want to commit. Even if you claim to be a listen-to-the-whole-album purist, I've seen you bouncing around from one or two War on Drugs songs...
Pallbearer will be heading across North America this October. Head to the replies to find out where to catch them. Their new album, Foundations of Bourden, will be released on August 19th via Profound Lore Records.
For the last few years, The Quesadilla Factory was home to many fantastic pop-punk and hardcore shows. However, the time has come for the venue to closedown, but that doesn't mean that they're not going to go out without a bang. The Story So Far, Downpresser, and more will be playing the venue's final show. Only 200 pre-sale tickets will be available on July 4th. More information can be found on the venue's Facebook page.
The Denver Post writes that Riot Fest's Denver stop (scheduled for Sept. 19-21) could be in trouble this year. People from the town where it's held complained at an open house / community forum about noise (one man said he had to close his windows!), drug use, traffic and other "nasty things."
The future of Riot Fest in Colorado, held for the first time in the state last year at May Farms near Byers, remains uncertain as Arapahoe County officials wrestle with whether to allow the event to continue this year. No decision on the event's future was made Tuesday evening.
Those who packed the American Legion Hall in this small, rural town 40 miles east of Denver to address the Arapahoe...
After seemingly disappearing for the past few years and giving zero updates on any new material or his life since the final tour surrounding his 2009 album, Kings & Queens (except for this appearance on the re-do of Rancid's "Wrongful Suspicion" with Tim Armstrong), Jamie T has announced his return with a few UK live dates which can be seen in the replies. Hopefully this means we will hear of new albums and bigger tours to come.
Faster Louder is reporting that Big Day Out, one of Australia’s biggest music festivals, will take 2015 off. In a separate piece, the publication noted that former Big Day Out promoter AJ Maddah talked last tweek on Twitter about how there was "a shortage of headliners on cycle this year" and "there was fuck all out there."
As reported yesterday, the Soundwave promoter sold his 50 percent stake of the festival back to the Austin-based C3 Presents, who bought into the Big Day Out in 2012. C3 have since confirmed that while the Big Day Out won’t happen in 2015, they plan to resurrect the event in the future. Maddah has welcomed C3 Presents’ full ownership of the Big Day Out, telling a fan...
Brianna from Tigers Jaw has released a statement regarding what occurred at last night's show. It's depressing that this even needs to be said, but everyone: read it -- share it.
Last night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, someone came on stage and very forcibly tried to kiss me, and actually did kiss Britty while she was playing. Another person from the tour was kissed while taking a photo… This tour is the first time something like this has happened to me, and I definitely feel responsible to say something.
IT IS NEVER OKAY TO TOUCH SOMEONE WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. Ever. I felt so upset and violated, as did the others who this happened to.. Touching someone without their consent is...
Adding to the seemingly never-ending run of tour dates, The 1975 has now announced a headline tour across Europe in October. The band has racked up over 400 global dates in about 18 months so far and endless amounts of miles, in case there was any curiosity there. Check the replies to see the dates.
Craig Owens will be doing four solo acoustic nights in Texas. Dates in the replies.
On The 4 Nights In Texas tour, you can expect an even mixture of songs from my entire catalogue. Songs from Chiodos, DRUGS, Cinematic Sunrise, my solo ep, covers, and a few other fun surprises. My friend Peter Tsouras from the band Fairweather will be joining me on all four of the Texas dates. I'm really stoked on this, because Peter and his work with Fairweather helped shape me as a musician. I remember seeing them play in Flint, MI at my hometown venue, and saying "I'm going to do that one day." The fact that he'll be sharing the stage with me shows you just how full circle life really is.
The 2014 Honda Civic Tour will be three successive tours with different genres and headliners. Check the replies for the full press release.
