There are 72,000 newly-diagnosed adolescent and young adult patients each year in the population that ranges from 15 to 39. While many consider these to be the most formative years of a person’s life, this population suffers a well-documented deficit in research and attention from the cancer community. This shortfall has lead to a 30-year stagnation in the improvement of AYA survival rates compared to all other age demographics.
What we want to do is raise a dollar for every one of the 72,000 adolescents and young adults that will be diagnosed this year.
With a wink, Andrew McMahon tells Billboard backstage that one of his old bands, Jack's Mannequin, might be playing some shows later this year or early next year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its debut album, Everything In Transit.
What do you do when you have a spare afternoon in Nashville? Find a studio, a camera, a box of toy instruments and see if you can't make something cool happen. I had no idea what I was getting into when i showed up for this experiment, but I'm so pleased with how it all turned out. That said you may be able to tell by my face (or many faces) throughout this video that there were moments I felt a little overwhelmed by the process of stitching all these elements together. Enjoy
This weekend, McMahon will join Corsten and Markus Schulz at Coachella—McMahon will sing live during their set as New World Punx. "I truthfully have no idea what to expect. This will be my first time guesting for an electronic artist and I'm very excited about it," McMahon admits. "Dance music has such a powerful effect on an audience and to be onstage at Coachella taking that in is going to be incredible."
It’s been great. It’s an interesting thing that I’ve always been one to hit the reset button when I felt that things were getting a little stale, or I needed some new inspiration. It gets a little bit more nerve-wracking when you get a bit older to hit that reset button because you don’t want to fuck up and have to claw your way back. But that said I feel it was such a worthy endeavour because it gave me the chance to really dig back into playing my piano. I think by the last Jack’s Mannequin record, I’d scaled back the piano so much. I really wanted to sit and focus and write great piano...
Not everything is about revenue. These streaming services are bringing people back in to the fold who would otherwise only be pirating music. They are also giving smaller and mid slze artists a platform. The radio is still very powerful and the same amount of artists have been blowing up year after year on radio since well before I was born. Those hits add up to big dollars for the artists who have them, yet those are the people upset? I always find it interesting that the artists who complain most about spotify and similar sites are the ones making the...
