Read my review and take a look at my photos from the Mansfield, MA stop of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour on July 10th. I caught such acts as Yellowcard, Every Time I Die, Four Year Strong, The Story So Far, K.Flay, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties and many more.
The Vans Warped Tour celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and a lot has changed in those two decades. One thing that has been consistent for the last several years is people complaining about the line-up. While it's undeniable that the tour's focus has shifted, the adaptation is an easy one to make. As with past years, the 2014 roster boats plenty of old favorites in addition to today's hot acts and up-and-comers.
Karen Bliss reports on Billboard that a 15 year old girl has gone missing after attending Warped Tour in Toronto.
Batty is described as white, 5'5", 115 lbs., with brown eyes and long, dyed blue hair. She was wearing a black tank top, blue denim cut-off shorts and black Vans sneakers. She has stretchers in her earlobes.
There were multiple bands onstage in and around 8 p.m.: Bayside was on The Journey’s Stage; For Today just wrapped up on Kia Soul stage; Plague Vendor was on the Electric Soul stage; Bad Rabbits had just ended on the Warheads stage; I The Breather just went on the Ernie Ball stage; and One Ok Rock just ended on the Beatport stage; The Color Morale had just ended on the...
At the Montreal, QC stop of Warped Tour, a security guard threw a crowd member to the ground during The Story So Far's set. Will Levy and Parker Cannon stop playing and intervene to help, along with Alan Day of Four Year Strong. Video is below - occurs at the 40 second mark.
Check out our new interview with Chelsea Grin from the Pomona, CA date of the Warped Tour here. The band's upcoming album Ashes To Ashes is out July 8th, and you can see them on the Monster Energy stage through the end of tour.
The EP was kind of like a start, a lot of experimentation, and the full length was a combination of so many styles of music. We have 15 songs on the album, so we wanted to experiment while at the same time have that crushing Chelsea Grin sound.
Ryan Rockwell from Mixtapes sort of tried to explain his side of the incident at Warped Tour on his podcast. I listened to most of this thing and didn't hear the words "I'm sorry" used once, and I'm still a little confused why this wasn't what he immediately said on Twitter instead of the sarcastic "yeah?" he posted soon after. Couldn't the easy response have been, "it was a horrible joke gone wrong, I immediately corrected myself and am an idiot, I am so sorry I said that" on Twitter? That would have obviously been reported if he tweeted that instead.
I always like to mess with the rest of my band if they’re talking. Maura was talking about that situation and I wasn’t really thinking...
First of all, I wanted to say that what Ryan said was wrong and that I'm sorry for it, even if he isn't. As many of you may know who know Mixtapes, what was said on stage the other day was meant to be a joke and was said in a sarcastic manner. Ryan corrected himself on stage shortly after.
That being said, there are some things that just shouldn't be joked about in the first place and sexual assault is one of them. I know personally as I've been kissed and touched without permission multiple times on stage and off since being in Mixtapes and...
Multiplereports are coming in from Warped Tour that Mixtapes' frontman Ryan Rockwell said something akin to "fuck tigers jaw. kiss whoever you want" while on stage today. I feel like the response from Tiger's Jaw on Twitter says it best: "disappointing. You had an opportunity to promote respectful behavior towards others and you did the opposite. Bad look."
“There’s really not a lack of women,” he [Kevin Lyman] says, interrupting me before I’ve finished asking the first question. “If you’ve got 20 bands that have women in them out of 120 bands, that’s one out of six bands.”
“You think that’s OK?” I ask, surprised that he would be so comfortable with such a one-sided ratio.
“That’s absolutely OK,” he says.
Update: Kevin Lyman has posted a variety of responses on Twitter.
I encourage @mseling to start her own music festival, she has good taste in music and seems to have it figured out.
Warped Tour is now accepting applications for its Peer Safety Volunteer Team. If you are looking for a way to give back to Warped Tour and help others make sure they have a safe day while you get to see your favorite bands for free -- this is a good way to do it. If you have any questions feel free to email Tiffany.
The main purpose of the team is to insure the safety of everyone at the Vans Warped Tour. Whether it’s to help them with a small cut or with a life threating illness, we are here for them. The organization wants to ensure that a serious injury never happens at the Vans Warped tour. We want to help everyone regardless of the situation. We are the eyes and ears of the medical...
