Former Hey Monday members Mike and Chris Gentile have formed a new band called Rescue Kid. They released their first single "Make You Mine" in early 2013 and later went on to release their first EP Ignite in the Spring. They are re-releasing their first EP, now titled Re-Ignite due out January 28, 2014, featuring the 5 tracks, 3 new acoustic tracks, 1 brand new track, and guest vocals which will be announced soon. The band released a video for "Make You Mine" which you can view in the replies.
Bruce Springsteenjust announced a new album called High Hopes for release January 14, 2014 via Columbia Records. Hit the replies to see the artwork and the track listing. This represents his 18th studio album and the follow-up to 2012's No. 1-charting Wrecking Ball. The 12-track album consists of three cover songs as well as two new takes on old songs: Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), who plays live semi-regularly with the E Street Band, will duet with The Boss on a new version of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and we also get a studio version of "American Skin (41 Shots)" from Live in New York City. The rest of the album is composed of new or previously unreleased material.
This week on the Self Promotion Forum, I happened upon a Long Island five piece Sunning. The post-hardcore band got together in 2012 and have just released their fourth release. The five track EP, Losing Youth is a blistering, sad collection of Touché Amore -esque epic post-hardcore which will tug at the coldest of heartstrings. The Hold Steadyhave started a PledgeMusic campaign to fund the recording of a covers EP. In the explanation of the EP on the PledgeMusic page the band also confirms that they will be releasing a new full-length album sometime in 2014.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL post-hardcore band Featherweight will release their 3rd EP, Heaven Sent on December 10th, 2013 via Limited Fanfare Records on limited edition cassette and digital formats. It looks like Kony (the warlord brought to the attention of many via the Kony 2012 campaign) is reportedly "in talks" with the Central African Republic governement to possibly surrender.
US officials expressed doubt that the new talks represented a long-awaited breakthrough. The US State Department said the LRA's top commanders had used "any and every pretext to rest, regroup and rearm, ultimately returning to kidnapping, killing, displacing and otherwise abusing civilian populations".
On December 5th, Lana Del Rey will premiere her 30-minute short film Tropico on Vevo. The three-part story, based on the biblical story of sin and redemption, begins in the Garden of Eden (starring Del Rey as Eve) and travels through time to modern-day Los Angeles and will feature music from Del Rey's Born To Die: The Paradise Edition. The service's final day of operation will be December 2nd, when Turntable promises to throw one final party. "If we also want to give Turntable Live a real shot, we need to fully focus on it," Turntable writes. So far, it's happy with the response. The streaming shows — all of which are hosted from Turntable's SoHo studio — try to recreate the live concert experience, straight down to asking fans to buy tickets ahead of time.
