The second lineup announcement from Fest 13 is in and (take a deep breath) Hot Water Music, Touché Amoré, Masked Intruder, Ben Nichols, Modern Baseball, Pianos Become The Teeth, a Spraynard reunion and more have been added to the lineup...adding to Descendents, Lifetime, Less Than Jake, Strike Anywhere, The Menzingers, Chuck Ragan, Banner Pilot, the Hotelier, Into It. Over It., a We Are The Union reunion and more. Here is the first announcement in case you missed it. Check out the full update in the replies (there are 200 bands so far!) and remember that tickets for Fest 13 (Oct. 31 - Nov. 2) and Pre-Fest in Little Ybor 2 (Oct. 29-30), along with hotels, go on sale this Sunday.

The AV Club has a long form article series about punk in the 90's, and today's article is about the year 1997. Bands discussed include a pre-fame Jimmy Eat World, a Glen Danzig-less Misfits and, of course, Blink-182. Good lunch time reading, for sure.
In 1997—as I was reminded the hard way at the Blink-182/Jimmy Eat World show at the Mercury—much of the punk scene was still fragmented, confused, and resistant to new things. Not for long, though. And a newfound willingness to evolve was about to hit the punk scene in an earth-shaking way.

Unconditional Arms began as a solo endeavor from The American Scene guitarist Jeffrey Wright, but for the new Virtue Circle 7", the project has been expanded to a full band. I would say what balanced out Lovedrug, as far as the writing was concerned, was the other guys in Lovedrug were very much more into the indie side of music, the cooler, underground music. I was always kind of the pop guy who brought some of the hookier stuff to the music. So when I sat down to do a record by myself, essentially I’m writing pop songs. I’ve been going through this huge ‘80s thing lately. I was largely influenced by artists like Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, stuff like that that I grew up loving, kind of writing from a modern standpoint but with a little bit of that...

Billboard is reporting that Spotify is finalizing a deal with Sprint to bundle their on-demand music service with Sprint family plans.
Mobile plan bundling is generally believed to be the Holy Grail for taking on-demand music services to mainstream users in the U.S. and Europe as the right kind of plan can make paying for music seamless – similar to how consumers pay for premium networks on their cable TV bills.
