Cassie Whitt, writing for Alt Press:
Flashback to 2005: I was that reviled age and waiting in line, clutching tickets for my first My Chemical Romance show (which I had cried and screamed over at my birthday party the week prior). I heard the man in front of me going on about “stupid, little My Chemical Romance fangirls” wearing the band’s T-shirts and “ruining” the show. I looked down at my brand new MCR shirt and hoodie and turned my back, self-consciously zipping up. It was easier than to think, “Is there something wrong with me? Am I stupid? Maybe he’s right. I can’t act like a stupid fangirl.”

A local write-up about the new Inspection 12 album gives some details on what to expect.
The new album entitled Redefine is “a very simple summation of the turn of events we’ve experienced individually and collectively,” Mosely says. “The songs carry some themes of perspective, reflection and looking ahead…the things that everybody goes through in the pivotal ages of life. There’s a track called ‘My Ways’ that expresses the feelings of returning to a familiar place that may not be so familiar anymore, so maybe you’re the one that has to change, or “redefine” your ways. It’s just all about doing what you want to do and on your own terms, or the best terms that you can present for yourself.”

Copeland have posted an update on pre-order bundles on Facebook.
Lots of folks are getting understandably antsy about preorder bundles. I want to apologize for the delay. I know it's a bummer to know that the album is out and you still don't have your copy. We're experiencing more delays at the vinyl manufacturer. They're manufacturing 3 different vinyl products for us, and were already backed up with orders. The first pressing of LP had terrible sound quality issues, so we had to have the record re-cut. This delayed our production even more, but was necessary to the quality of the product.

The Twin CD tin boxes are still in transit from the UK (they were held up for 3 weeks by...

Caitlin Dickson, writing for The Daily Beast, on the state of racist rock on online music services.
With the strict media laws in Germany and other European countries managing to prevent 'white power' bands from success, or at least making it into the mainstream, the SPLC’s report notes that it was America's free speech protections of U.S. that allowed the racist music industry to thrive here in the 90s. In addition to being a once-hugely profitable business, hate music has long served as a highly effective recruiting tool for the movements whose messages it espouses.

A variety of bands, including Anti-Flag, will be boycotting shows put on by Pittsburgh promoter Brian Drusky after comments made over the weekend. Anti-Flag have posted a statement about their decision.
Through the cases of Eric Garner, Michael Brown and all those who have suffered at the hands of racism, police brutality and an unjust legal system, there is a loud and important public discourse. Based on recent actions, we feel that Brian Drusky, the owner of the company promoting our show in Pittsburgh, is on the wrong side of that conversation. For this reason we do not feel comfortable playing a show he’s promoting. Confronting bigotry and blind allegiance to power with education is...

If you’re a fan of what we’ve done over the years, I really encourage you – like, as in grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-straight-into-your-eyes kinda thing — to check this stuff out and take it back to your spaces and get the discussion going in your own circles. We live in a misogynistic society. This stuff is pervasive. I guarantee you’re going to encounter it at some point if you haven’t already. Take it from someone who has learned the hard way, for everybody’s sake, you better have some idea how to respond.

I Am The Avalanche guitarist Brandon Swanson recently announced via Instagram that he is to play his final show with the band on December 26th.
Friends, this is going to be my final show with IATA. I'd love it if you could join us for for the show. I'm gonna have as much fun as possible, probably some beers and some tears. But lots of smiles and hugs as well. Hope to see you there. [...] Just to clear the air, I didn't get kicked out or anything. I feel very accomplished in the 10 years I spent recording records and touring the world with my brothers. It's just time for me to close this chapter so I can focus on other things I want to try my hand at in my life. Viva 2015! Love y'all.
