The documentary short Whispering Spirits is now streaming online and features interviews with Mike Kinsella of Owen and Greg Dunn of Moving Mountains. Whispering Spirits tells the story of Justin Veatch, a talented musician who died of a drug overdose at the age of seventeen. The film follows Jeffrey, Justin's father, as his family grapples with their devastating loss while reconnecting with him through the music he left behind.
Following Reed’s death in 2013, Howard Sounes interviewed more than 140 of his school friends, bandmates, girlfriends, and family members. “I loved his music, but you have to go where the story goes,” Sounes told The Daily Beast. “The obituaries were a bit too kind, he was really a very unpleasant man. A monster really; I think truly the word monster is applicable.”

Along with their upcoming tour, Fall Out Boy will be releasing "Irresistible" (featuring Demi Lovato) as their next single on October 16th.
In addition to the winter tour, Fall Out Boy have revealed that their next single will be a new version of “Irresistible” featuring their friend and powerhouse vocalist Demi Lovato, available on Oct. 16. The original track, which has already sold over 100,000 copies, has been reimagined with Lovato's soaring vocals blending harmoniously with Stump's already powerful singing.
We’ve been starting every song out with acoustic guitar, vocal, bass, and drums live and then we pretty much build from there. It’s a great way to do it because as each thing goes on top you start to hear more and more of a finished song. We’re choosing each layer carefully and only putting on what we feel adds to the song, not just layering for the sake of slapping 32 guitars of the same part.
So far there’s been pianos, mandolin, a LOT of 12 string guitars (yes!), a banjo, and one song with pedal steel!!!! What?!? RULES! I’m from NJ, so I never heard pedal steel on...
If you live in Dallas, TX and love St. Vincent, she's been working some shifts as a waitress at her sister's new taqueria. It's about five minutes from my parents house, so if you need a place to stay, let them know.
At last night's Brand New show (their last of 2015), Jesse Lacey told fans that "this isn't going to last much longer." He mentioned hoping to have a new record out, but gave no details as to when. Video of the speech is in the replies.
Stream State Champs' new album here. As this post is in relation to Pure Noise Records, I'd like to direct your attention to this post where there's a lot of great information about consent education, sexual assault literature, and much more.
I'm very excited to share a brand new artist to the Other People Records family, singer/songwriter Brianna Hunt, who performs under the name Many Rooms. Today, we're premiering the title track from her upcoming EP, Hollow Body - hit the replies to check it out. I strongly believe many readers here will fall in love with her music, so please do follow her on Twitter. Jesse Barnett of Other People Records had this to say:
When I first heard Brianna it seemed like such an obvious choice for Tom and I. I fell in love her songs and her style of writing and playing. There's a haunting patience to her songs that is hard to find and even harder to pull off. There's no frills, no bullshit, no...

From Autumn To Ashes have announced a show at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, NY on December 18th. The announcement comes following the resolution of frontman Francis Mark's prior legal things. The band replied to a fan on Facebook stating that Fran has "no restrictions" and that they play to tour again this winter.
My favorite podcast app, Overcast, launched version 2.0 today. The new version is completely free. This means you get SmartSpeed, which almost imperceptibly speeds up podcasts for faster listening and has saved me over 70 hours of time, for free. Trust me: it's totally worth it. You can grab the app on the App Store or read a great review over at MacStories if you need more convincing. Also, with the new update comes a new recommendation engine with a music podcasts section ... and our podcast is featured in it. Thank you to everyone that "starred" or "recommended" our podcast in the app -- that's really, really cool. It brought the biggest smile to my face to see our little artwork (at...
After being released yesterday, The 1975's "Love Me" is now the #2 song on all of iTunes. You can grab it here if you'd like to help push the band toward number one (the song should now also be on all streaming services).
