Motörhead's frontman, Lemmy Kilmister, has passed away at age 70. A full statement is expected to be released tomorrow. Rest in peace. "Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud".
Update: An official statement from the band can be read here.
There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
Vanna revealed last night that they will have a new album out next summer. They also strongly hinted that they'll be playing Warped Tour. We'll have a full review of the show (A Loss For Words' last) in the near future.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to be unstoppable. It is now the fastest film to cross the $1 billion mark globally, doing so in 12 days (previously held by Jurassic World with 13 days). It also broke the second weekend record by raking in $153.5 million, beating the previous record also held by Jurassic World, which did $106 million during its second weekend.
The Academy Is... has reunited for their Almost Here 10 year anniversary tour in which they are performing the album in its entirety. On the night after Christmas, the band was supported by PARTYBABY and Le Swish at The Observatory OC and gave a performance to remember. Check the replies for some of the highlights from the show!
Arrowhead have put one of my favorite albums of the year, A Collection of What You've Lost, up for pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp. Recommended for fans of The Saddest Landscape, Pianos Become the Teeth, Defeater and La Dispute.

Bell, then 18, and his mother sued the school to have his record cleared of any wrongdoing. Now his small-town case may reach the US Supreme Court (after the Fifth Circuit ruled in his favor in 2014), and there are much broader implications at stake: essentially, the First Amendment right to use rap as an artistic form of expression and a legitimate method of protest. That’s why rappers Killer Mike, Big Boi, and T.I., and artists like Favianna Rodriguez have joined scholars and legal experts in filing a 25-page amicus brief to the court in support of Bell’s freedom of speech on Monday. The brief acts as Hip-Hop 101 for the court, whose average age is...

“I have been an obsessive fan of The Cure since I was 13," the show's creator Neil Cross told The Daily Record. “After we had finished shooting the second episode of this special, I phoned the producer and said there is this really obscure Cure track – an extra track on a 12-inch single called 'A Few Hours After This' – which I have always loved and think it would really go."
I need to just clear the air since this continues to be awkward for me months after the fact and I just want it to be over with. I am no longer in I See Stars. I did not choose to leave, I was asked to leave. Why? I'm not really sure. I guess the rest of the guys felt they needed a change. I felt it was necessary to make this clear because as someone who was with I See Stars since day one I thought the fans deserved to know that I did not turn my back on them and walk away.
"These kids are awesome. They asked nicely, and the only thing cooler was how nicely Brian responded," said Mr. Cusick. "The speech was great. The kids were great. Overall, I hope the experience was as unforgettable for these boys as it was for me."

After six years together, The Venetia Fair are breaking up. They've released one last song, “Death Is The Poor Man’s Doctor," on Bandcamp. They've also announced their final shows, the details on which can be found in the replies.
Please don’t make us be in The Venetia Fair anymore! Please please please! We will be in another band if you want, we still like each other a lot just please let it be a different one. We will be in Metallica if they will take us or we will just make another band that isn’t The Venetia Fair if that’s cool. We are very appreciative that you let us be The Venetia Fair for as long as you did but PLEASE let us stop being The Venetia Fair and then maybe let us...
