Today, we're kicking off probably my favorite AbsolutePunk feature - the Absolute 100. Per usual, we'll be revealing 25 of our choices per week over the course of the next four weeks. On this year's list, you'll notice a handful of bands that have been building up momentum over the last year as well as some fresh faces you may not have heard yet. Check out the first 25 acts and join in on the discussion about which band is your new favorite.

This week on the Self Promotion Forum, I came across a band I've been quite a fan of for some time now. Smalls is a five piece pop-punk band hailing from Los Angeles whose female fronted, raw sound makes them stand out from their identikit peers.Their recent EP, Expecting The Worse perfectly showcases the band's pop sensibilities alongside their D.I.Y, punky aesthetic. Expecting The Worse is available as 'name your price' on their Bandcamp. Give a couple of years and Smalls will be very, very big... (ahem). Interested in being a part of the Self-Promotion Spotlight? It's easy, just sign up for an AbsolutePunk.net account and post in the Self-Promotion forum.

Drew BeringerThe new Balance and Composure record totally destroys Separation.
Jake DenningThis week, I've been listening to one of my favorite bands, P.O.D., alongside Turnstile, O' Brother, and Daylight. Also, after hearing Jason and Drew's recent chat with Riley Breckenridge of Thrice, I've been spinning Vheissu and The Alchemy Index as well.
Jack ApplebyDo yourself a favor and go see The World's End - just a great, enjoyable movie. Musically, lots of Moving Mountains, Live Alive, and Say Anything. Pretty damn excited about the upcoming NBA season as well.
BlakeI''ve been re-living freshman year of college and listening to lots...
