Welcome to My Back Pages, a collaborative staff feature that will survey a landscape of renowned classics and unheralded gems alike, most of which no one around here ever writes a word about. The rules are simple and loose: we wonít cover anything from this millennium and we will avoid all or most AP.net favoritesóthough we might make an exception if something is nearing a milestone anniversary. Beyond that though, anything is fair game. So if you have an album, artist, or genre you would like to see discussed in this feature, feel free to throw us a few recs.

This week, after an extended break we are returning with a look at Television's seminal 1977 debut...

It's a big week for Max Bemis (Say Anything) as the first issue of his new comic book series, Polarity, hits stores today. We haven't heard too much from him recently as he's been busy with the comic series, his numerous musical projects, and, you know, being a new dad. Luckily, Max was able to find some precious free time last week to speak with me about what it's like being a new father and how Polarity came to be, as well as some very informative updates about his projects, especially a peak into what we should expect on the next Say Anything record and how the AP.net community influenced it.
And also, just sonically, and I know Iím being a tease, but thereís definitely going to...

Brian Fallon's working on new music.
Iíd also like to say thisÖ What Iím working on Iíd classify as Americana. Itís not from New Jersey, itís not The Gaslight Anthem, in fact, itís not even mine, but itís oursÖ Iím looking to the people who used folk and country music as a tradition and took what was past and moved forward. Wilco, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, the Highwaymen, Bob Dylan, etcÖ Iím not writing about straw hats and gin joints. Iím not writing about nostalgia or a time I wasnít born it. Iím writing about the last two years of my life since we wrote handwritten. This project is going to be based on things I learned early on musically, which were my motherís folk songs....

PureVolume spoke with Dan Kjaer of Iceage and discussed the Danish youth, government, and punk rock in general.
I used to be political and stuff, but nowadays I just think that you should try to do what you think is right and have fun and do good work. Aside from that, I donít think I have a philosophy that I can describe or believe in. But I believe in something. But I guess just with the band and stuff, we try to do really good music and do it in a way like no one else.

Everyone deserves a second chance and Random Holiday are a prime example of this mantra. Unbeknownst to them, I had the chance of seeing them live awhile back and thinking there was a lot of room for improvement. Improve they did...tenfold. Space To Grow is the band's upcoming debut LP and these high schoolers have channeled influences from recent pop-punk heavyweights like Forever Came Calling to put together an impressive full-length. Listen to "17" in the replies and leave your thoughts as well.
