Former The Downtown Fiction drummer and current From Indian Lakes manager, Eric Jones, wrote a blog about signing a record deal, what it means for bands, the misconceptions behind it, and advice for young bands - check it out here.
I think a big misconception amongst young bands is that signing to a label is the end-all be-all. That it is the pinnacle of your career. But here’s the truth: at best, it’s a platform to build off of. I wish someone would’ve told that to me when I had first signed. I hate to say it, but I got a little lazy. The entire band did. From Indian Lakes have signed to Triple Crown Records. The band will begin recording their label debut in early 2014. The label also announced there will be a vinyl re-issue of Able Bodies in October.
“We are excited to announce that we have signed to Triple Crown Records. We have always been a DIY kind of band and that isn't changing now. Releasing Able Bodies on our own was incredible, but there were some things that we felt could have been better for our fans, and partnering with Triple Crown is going to make the next release even more special. They are also a label that supports artistic freedom, which is what's most important to us and hopefully everyone who supports us. Looking...

One day after I poke fun at BOTDF for their "meet the band" packages in their merch store, Fall Out Boy rolls out a similar package for their Overcast Kids fan club. I still think these are an odd new addition to a band's "merch" bag of tricks.
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, August 1st at Noon EDT, Overcast Kids will have access to purchase a specially priced and limited Meet & Greet Ticketless Bundle. These bundles are available for each date of the Save Rock and Roll Fall Arena Tour 2013 and they will only be available via the Fall Out Boy packages page. Miss May I has been a wild ride for all of us since the beginning. From starting out in a basement in a small Ohio town, listening to our favorite bands, and just trying to play shows, all the way up to now, about to record our fourth full length album. As a long time fan, I am ecstatic to announce that we will be working with Terry Date on our next record.
