I See Starsmissed today's New Jersey date on Warped Tour. The reason? An anonymous tip from someone on the tour told me the band was kicked off today's date because they "never unload the stage truck."
This week on the Self Promotion Spotlight I found the lovely Friend Skeletons, an indie tinged punk band from Providence. The band incorporate math-y twinkles, catchy melodies and a general punk vibe into their music and their distinct vocals and organic feel are highly striking. If The Gaslight Anthem and American Football combined, the product could sound a little like this. Download their new EP People on their Bandcamp as 'name your price'. Interested in being a part of the Self-Promotion Spotlight? It's easy, just sign up for an AbsolutePunk.net account and post in the Self-Promotion forum.

Working on new songs for a new Gaslight Anthem album in 2014. Dig it. Tourís been great, Brianís very pleased he hasnít has many photos of him taken. Heís busy in the back of the bus writing new songs, something about Bob Dylan and Led Zepplin and Neil Young in the same band. We donít know what heís on about. Weíll leave him be for nowÖ We havenít seen him in anything but sunglasses for the last three days. At least Ray Ban is very pleased. More to come, this will updated WAY more frequently now that weíve stolen it from Brian. Though he may arise from his tomb of 60ís and 70ís records and write something odd...
Weíve noticed a trend of people co-opting pop punk to mean whatever the shit they want it to mean. And hereís the thing: we get that punk is supposed to be all-inclusive and itís open to interpretation. But if we canít set up at least some broad musical boundaries, the genre is meaningless and everything is pop punk and we can include Dr. Dreís The Chronic.
