When influential bands call it quits, we can deal - as long as those musicians keep making music. Problem is, it's been three years since lowcountry - we've been ready for Envy On The Coast's members to return for some time now. Enter Heavy English, the answer. EOTC's vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Sal Bossio and drummer Dan Gluszak have teamed with bassist Ari Sadowitz to bring the new jams - and we've got the first track. Head to the replies to hear "21 Flights," and grab the track on iTunes tomorrow.
Earlier this year, Kevin Devine raised well over his Kickstarter goal to fund and release two albums in 2013. We're fortunate to be able to exclusively release the first song off the Jesse Lacey-produced Bubblegum (aka LP8, more album details here). The song is called "Private First Class" and it is about Bradley Manning, the United States Army soldier arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to the website WikiLeaks. You can check out the song in the replies and I think it's one of the best songs Kevin has ever released. More details on both albums will be coming soon, but for now check out the new song and let us know what you think.

PropertyOfZack has stumbled across something that sounds like it could be a new or unreleased Brand New song. It could also be one of a few other projects of course, but that first verse really appears to be Jesse Lacey. Weigh in on what you think this is in the replies.
This week on the Self Promotion Forum, I discovered the lovely Keeler. I'm super excited about them and despite the fact that they have only released two tracks (both of which are available for free on their Bandcamp.), they've already got the modern emo sound nailed. Their new single "Shoot The Jay", from their upcoming EP, sounds quite a bit like Snowing and their overall vibe is jazzy modern emo. Download their two songs and get stoked for their EP, Too Old To Believe In Ghosts, which will be released in September. Interested in being a part of the Self-Promotion Spotlight? It's easy, just sign up for an AbsolutePunk.net account and post in the Self-Promotion forum.
Emblem3's new album, Nothing To Lose, comes out this Tuesday and includes some tracks written by Martin Johnson (Boys Like Girls), Jack Antonoff (fun.), Benji and Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), Bruno Mars, and Nick Bailey and Ryan Ogren (Over It). You can stream the record here.
Staying in on a weekend often has negative connotations, but who doesn't enjoy time to themselves once in a while with some good tunes and fine wine (or beer!)? Some of my favourite albums began to resonate with me on a deeper level when I was absorbed by the music coming out of my headphones the entire night. And tonight is precisely one of those nights: I'm surrounded with incredible new music by The Civil Wars, Eric & Magill and Typhoon, as well as some delicious Cabernet Merlot, and I couldn't be happier. So if you're out there also doing nothing other than enjoying the company of some great music, then come say hello and share those tunes!
Lakes are working on a new full-length, which "won't be out for awhile." In the meantime, the band will release a stripped down EP including garage versions of the album's songs and a few b-sides. Watch a video with details in the replies.
Ten former American Idol contestants are suing the show (for 25 million dollars) for the allegedly racist policies set in place by its producers.
The group claims they were unjustly kicked off the show because of their race, accusing producers of orchestrating a “cruel and inhumane” scheme to juice ratings by allegedly digging up their criminal histories after they were accepted on the show in order to embarrass them in TV segments. According to their lawyer, James H. Freeman, they were treated unfairly by the producers. Freeman also says their arrest histories were obtained illegally, and the practice was used to find dirt only on black singers. None of the contestants, Freeman says,...

My heart is heavy as a dawn sets towards a new sunrise. 4 years ago my band Design The Skyline formed from the passion of 7 individuals with the goal of creating a unique open-minded experience in a world bound by normalities. While the goal was ultimately reached and many loving, dedicated fans rose and stand by us, we have decided to part ways and begin a new chapter in our music careers.
"Thank you to all the fans who supported us, fought with us and will continue to do so! I have endless love and appreciation for you! I will never forget all the messages from everyone saying I saved lives, opened eyes, inspired, and helped push through the...
TMZ shot footage of Scantlin leaving the police station Wednesday night. On the way out, Scantlin defended himself, "My neighbor vandalized my house so I had to take action." He also mentioned the sledgehammer ... but was mum on the buzz saw.
