Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio (aka Baio) is releasing his debut solo album this week, The Names, and we talked with him about it here.
What was very exciting about making this record was realizing that nobody was particularly waiting for it. No one was particularly excited for it, but I knew I wanted to do it. I knew I had to do it, and that was very freeing for me. If I had made something and didnít like it, didnít think it was worthwhile to put out into the world, I just would have deleted it from my hard drive.

Young Thug has shared his new mixtape Slime Season. The most eye-catching thing in the mixtape's 18 tracks is the opener, "Take Kare," which features Lil Wayne. You might remember Thug being accused, alongside Birdman, of conspiring to murder Lil Wayne a few months ago. The song originally was released in November of 2014, before the beef started in earnest, but it's appearance here seems to indicate they may have buried the hatchet. Either way, you can download Slime Seasonhere.

Around this time last year we premiered a Nothernmost song called "All Smiles." Today, we are premiering their whole new EP, Pinedale, a day before the release via Rude Fox Records. The EP reminds me a lot of what I loved about Head North's Bloodlines and A Will Away's Bliss earlier this year. Opener "Greenbrier" has a slow build aided by the drums, while "Afterglow" is the loudest song here, resembling Balance & Composure as the vocals build around the guitars. I have a feeling a lot of you will enjoy this one - give it a listen below.
Dead Ahead (featuring former members of Autopilot Off and With The Punches) will be releasing their self-titled new album on October 9th via Panic State Records. Today we're bringing you a premiere of the new song "Exit Letters" -- which you can check out in the replies. If you like what you hear, make sure to pre-order the new album.

Oh man, always. Weíre always so blessed. Weíre fortunate to be around as long as we have, and I feel like weíre just getting going. To have that support grow up and stick with us and now their kids are growing up and getting on board, itís such a cool thing, you canít make that happen, itís such a blessing. Weíre very thankful, and Godís been such a blessing.
No one told Pentimento about the sophomore slump. We've been covering the band since their earlydays, and they have yet to disappoint as they've progressed. Their forthcoming album, I, No Longer, is their most nuanced and cohesive effort to date. Head to the replies to hear their new single, "My Solution Is in the Lake," which infuses a Jimmy Eat World vibe into their signature sound. Produced by Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, The Dangerous Summer), I, No Longer will be released on October 23rd via Bad Timing Records.
Kanye West is presenting his Yeezy Season II fashion line at New York Fashion Week today, and apparently soundtracked the presentation with a new song. The song, apparently titled "I Feel Enslaved" and featuring Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign, is available in the replies via a recording of it being played at the presentation. As of yet, there is no confirmation if this will be on the still-mysterious seventh Kanye LP SWISH.
Fetty Wap will release his highly anticipated self-titled debut LP Fetty Wap on September 25th via 300 Entertainment (you know, the same label as Coheed & Cambria). Check out the 20-song deluxe edition tracklist in the replies and pre-order the record here.
The Front Bottoms surprised many long-time fans earlier this year when they signed to major label imprint Fueled By Ramen. Now the New Jersey group is gearing up to the release of their third full-length album and Fueled By debut, Back On Top (You can read AJ's review of the new album here.) We got the chance to chat with vocalist Brian Sella for an extensive phone conversation in which we discussed the decision to sign to a major label, what, if any, impact that decision had on Back on Top, what it's like to be from New Jersey, and a variety of other topics. You can find the entire interview here.
Our whole thing was playing in basements, and playing in small, shitty dive bars. To...
Maybeshewill have broken up. The band will embark on one final tour next year, more details to come. Check out the band's statement in the replies
We've thought about calling this a hiatus or just saying things are over, but if weíre completely honest we canít quite bring ourselves to put our feet firmly in either camp. There are numerous personal reasons why this has to happen for some of us. For others I'm sure theyíd prefer to be carrying on, but the nature of a band means that you have to find a solution which suits everyone and thatís what weíre doing here. Thatís why we've decided that these will be our last shows and leaving it at that.
The Austin-based pop-punk/rad jams fusion band Nominee will be heading out on a brief West Coast tour with Oklahoma's Life Lessons. Check out the current dates in the replies, and blow off your afternoon work with Life Lesson's new video for "Hang Your Head," also in the replies.

This cult of personality has many effects on the fan-musician dynamic, but perhaps the most pronounced is the way in which it elevates the musicianís viewpoints to a rarified status among their fanbase.
