This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demo's half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?

Songkick took at look at the hardest working bands of 2014 ... to no one's surprise, The 1975 take top spot. You can check out a PDF will a bunch of the data and stats here.
The Manchester quartet aren’t just the hardest working band of 2014. Their phenomenal efforts over the last 365 days have shot them to the top of the Songkick leaderboard, having played more shows and covered more ground within a calendar year than any other artist since 2010 (when we started crunching numbers). The 249724km travelled by the band, venue to venue, would take them two-thirds of the way to the moon. Which is little surprise, given they averaged a gig every 1.8 days. Unbelievable!

Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! talks with Stereogum.
Once we started playing this year and we realized how good it was — you know, having people from Rocket From The Crypt and International Noise Conspiracy in the band is pretty fucking cool — it just felt like it would be an absolute and total shame if we don’t make a record with this lineup. Obviously the last record was really me just raking myself over the coals emotionally, so I just really want to make a fun record — something that’s just really fun to fucking play and go on tour with. That might not sound like something terribly ambitious, but I think it could be great.

You can read our interview with From Indian Lakes here. In the interview, we talk about the band's tour with Relient K, their current album Absent Sounds, and what we can expect from the band in the future.
This record was written in a city, most of it, rather than the big, open spaces that I was in previously. I would get up out of bed, away from my wife and it’d be like 3 or 4 in the morning, and I’d sit at my kitchen table with a guitar and I’d be on Logic, and it was just stuff that was hitting me in those delirious moments, sort of almost drug-induced…

D.A Wallach, writing on Medium.
The problem is simply that no central database exists to keep track of information about music. Specifically, there are two types of information about a piece of music that are critically important: who made it and who owns the rights to it. Right now, this information is fiendishly difficult to track down, to the great detriment of artists, music services and consumers alike.

Decentralized, open-source, global cyryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ripple (full disclosure: I am an investor in Ripple Labs, which is developing this currency) offer a model for how we might address this bedeviling status quo. By applying the technical breakthroughs of...

Sal Nunziato, writing for the New York Times, explaining why the "suits" were good for the music industry. Going to say I disagree with the premise here.
But maybe this music shouldn’t be heard. The Internet has enabled anyone with a computer, a kazoo and an untuned guitar to flood the market, no matter how horrible or simply unready the music is. This devalues the great music that is truly worthy of being heard, promoted and sold. And it is much more than just an endless supply of choices. The Internet has become a forum for all, regardless of talent. Anyone can be a writer. Anyone with GarageBand can make a record.

Green Day will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
Only a handful of bands get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the first year they're eligible these days. When Billie Joe Armstrong learned that Green Day were one of them, he could barely process the news. "I had to go for a walk," he says. "I wound up at this cafe and I sat down and my son met up with me. I told him and he was like, 'Oh my God. No way.' It just took some time to sink in. We're in incredible company and I'm still trying to make sense of this. It's just incredible."
