Mae are writing and hoping to record and release new music before their tour starts in May.
Now that these seven shows are done and we're back to home life, I did put out an email to the five of us this past week requesting a conference call so we can talk about these songs we started writing and recording, but haven't finished yet. We all love what we got and believe in it, but now it's about finding the time to get into the studio and finish these songs.

Zach from Mae has written a blog about his favorite Mae album: Singularity.
After all, if I could designate any period of time which could be attributed to a negative turning point in Mae’s tenure, it would be associated with the recording and release of Singularity, and the subsequent tour. Aside from the biographical events, the songs and sonic characteristics of this particular record don’t immediately bring to mind feelings up triumph or any elevated accomplishments. Of course, in a certain sense, the writing, recording, and release of any body of songs is an accomplishment, but with Singularity, the accomplishment registered is not similar to that of The Everglow. Furthermore, the...

QuoteLook at the state of our country, look at the economy and look at how things are really difficult and desperate these days. People look to music for an escape, so I'm definitely proud that we got to be a part of something that provides an escape, but also provides an answer.

Check out the first part of my interview with Dave Elkins of Mae here.
QuoteI personally had writer’s block that really inhibited me from expressing myself musically and creatively like I had on Destination: Beautiful and The Everglow. And I think that really came through. You know when you're the singer and you are the primary songwriter and you're wrapped in your own brain, it's hard to come out with something that really has conviction. And you really just want other people to feel the energy and purity of it.
