Fun. are getting back to work on a new album.
"It's weird to talk about this, but it is interesting when you look at a song like 'Some Nights.' I remember when writing it, the thought was, 'No oneís gonna understand this. This isn't gonna happen. And this is the last chance, and then I gotta go get a real job,'" he said. "The first song on this new album is like the opposite of that, lyrically. You know, 'You got what you wished for. What the fuck are you wishing for now?'

Tim Kasher hates Fun.'s "Some Nights." This AVClub hate article thing is kinda depressing.
To be honest, I just tried listening to it a minute ago, because Iíve never actually listened to the whole thing before. So Iím being a little bit cavalier. Maybe Iíd really warm up to it, but I highly doubt it. Itís one of those songs I kept hearing, and I had to keep asking what it was. Then I kept hearing it more and more, and it was frustrating. It became really grating. Itís just one of those things when a song becomes commercialized to such excess. It drives you mad.

I wanted [the songs] to feel huge and larger than life and epic. I donít know if there really should be much of a difference between a childrenís show and a Bruce Springsteen concert. I think everyone should leave with the same feeling, which is hopefulness.

"I think there's a lot of metaphors in [the video] that you could draw with us and the past year we've had, but it's a video that I hope will make people feel very different the next time they go to the airport and give their bag away," guitarist Jack Antonoff said. "It's a very serious video that, on paper, might seem a little tongue in cheek, but at least the way it's written, it's meant to be pretty deep. "And I think that's OK, it's exciting and it's valuable for the fans of the music to know that, that it's not just this giant dream sequence," he continued. "There's a level of sacrifice that...

Our new interview with the two-time Grammy winning fun. can be found here.
Thereís a lot of stuff weíve done this year and weíve gotten really good at just shutting off. Thereís some things that are too big to even think about, and you get to the point in your head where all you can think about while youíre up there is when you used to do really small shows. Now itís the Grammys, but itís still the same thing. The environment is the same. Itís the same emotions. I play guitar the same way, Nate sings the same way, so itís really important in those moments to treat it no different than like playing a club show.
Jonathan Bautts on 02/20/13 - 10:00 AM
Read our show review of the February 12th Austin stop of fun.'s show with Charlie Brand. You can check out the photos here.
Now, up until this point, Iíve wondered about the longevity of fun.ís insane fame. With Some Nights being Ė in my opinion Ė one of the best pop albums in the last 5+ years, the guys have a lot on their plates. However, coming off of 2 Grammys and an already-platinum record, I think itís safe to say fun. are here to stayÖfor a long time. After seeing their live show, I am certain theyíll stay on top.

Nate Ruess (fun.) is working with a hip-hop artist, but it's not Kanye West.
Ruess added he's working on a hip-hop project. He can't say who, but he says it's not his hero Kanye West. "I'm just not at liberty to say, so I don't even know why I said it," he said. "But [Kanye] kind of got me off of my ass as far as acknowledging there's great music happening today. I think the older that I was getting, the more jaded I was becoming. I don't want to be a nostalgic listener. There's too much good stuff out there, and I just think it's up to me to work a little harder to find it."
