PropertyOfZack has a Friday Discussion today about the first CDs their staff members purchased. In case you were wondering, Zack Zarrillo first spent his money on Michelle Branch's The Spirit Room. Reveal the first album you purchased in the replies and reminisce upon a time when the $18 compact disc was the norm.
When I was younger I did. I was like, “Oh. Wow. Some people are harsh.” I’m really excited for this whole album to come out because we released one song out of sixteen and that one song – of course there are going to be people that compare me to my dad and to Green Day. Yeah, our influences include Green Day. It makes sense; I grew up listening to my dad. So I grew up listening to the same stuff he listened to. What I just want people to know is that some people go to work with their dads and some people go fishing...

PropertyOfZack recently sat down with Josh of Stick To Your Guns and discussed the band’s current tour, continuing to tour with different types of bands and crowds, and the band's goal to release a new album in 2014.
Actually. I say yeah, we’re going to take some time off, but what will happen every single time we say we’re going to take some time off, is another tour comes along. We love touring so much that we end up taking it. Jesse and I, actually in the last two days, have been working on a new song. When we just had a couple of weeks off, Chris was working on some songs. So we’ve actually already started working on new music, we just figured we’d go ahead and get a jump start on it...
If that headline seems a little hefty, that's because it is. PropertyOfZack has an interview up with Jonny Craig today where they discuss Craig's sobriety, why he tried out for The Voice, and the fact that some fans who he ripped off in the MacBook scandal still support him. Great job, fans.
You’ve had your ups and downs. Do you feel like you have to build things back up?
I definitely have ride or die fans that still love me. Even people that got ripped off. There are a couple people I ripped off in the Macbook thing, and they still tweet at me all the time. Some of them donated to my campaign.
We have an EP coming out on Equal Vision Records soon. It’s like three songs. He’s happy and I’m really happy with it. When we started playing together again, it came about by me sending him demo songs. Since I’ve been home I’ve just been in the basement writing music. Ideas just keep pouring out. Some of them don’t sound Reggie enough to be Reggie, so I’d send them to Matt. He’d send them back with vocals that would blow me away.
I do know that if we’re going to do Destination: Beautiful, more people know Mae for The Everglow than Destination: Beautiful so it would not make sense to do DB and not do The Everglow. So in 2015 we’d have to re-approach that again. We’ve sat across a table over the last several weeks and said, “Well hey, if we did this again what would we want it to look and feel like?” All we know is that when we get together, and we plug in and we play, that’s what feels right. All the business that happens in the middle of it, it just feels right. When you get...
Weatherstar released a new single "Better Off Alone" for free via Property of Zack. In April the band will be headlining a run of dates in support of the new single and the upcoming EP, which you can view in the replies.
Chris: Further is my band, Dashboard is my band, and Twin Falls is my priority. Suzie: Our Narrative record is recorded. It’s not mixed or mastered yet. The Narrative has released three albums and a vinyl on our own, over the last five years. We’re not interested on rushing it. We want a team to help us for this. The Narrative stuff has been moving slow. These guys have things going on too. There will be plenty of time for both of these things to coexist. I’m so excited about The Narrative record.
It literally was just me, my drummer, a fill-in guitarist, a fill-in bassist, and we had just released the self-titled album. So everybody was like, “What the fuck is going on with these guys?” Shortly after that we were like, “We’ve got to start working on a new record.” Who’s going to be in the band? Who’s going to be on the record? We start working on it; we decided we’re going to get new management. Interscope at that point had already fired their whole rock department. So at first I was kind of bummed like,...
