Sony saw a pretty big breach this weekend which lead to a variety of their films (some still in theatres, some not out yet) being leaked. One of the notable films is the To Write Love On Her Arms movie.
“Fury” has been downloaded by over 888,000 unique IP addresses since showing up on peer-to-peer networks on Nov. 27, according to piracy-tracking firm Excipio. That’s high enough to be the second most-downloaded movie currently being pirated, and it’s not out of movie theaters yet. Another big Sony movie, “Annie,” is also being pirated, this one three weeks ahead of its own wide release. Other Sony movies being downloaded include “Mr. Turner,” “Still Alice” and “To Write Love on Her...

Billboard has a good run-down of the current lawsuit Sony Music is facing from claims they "cheated" American Idol stars.
The litigation explores quite a bit of ground in the modern music business, from the way in which a music major like Sony accounts for revenue off of platforms like Spotify and iTunes to how advertising expenditures are treated. One topic that was largely overshadowed when 19 Recordings filed its claims this past February was Sony's alleged duty to share the spoils of its proceeds from big battles on the copyright front. For example, three years ago, Sony was among the record majors that extracted $105 million in settlement from file-sharing LimeWire. Does the money...

Andrew Kim of Minimally Minimal takes a look back at the original Sony Walkman.
That’s not to say that the TPS-L2 pocketable though. It’s too tight of a squeeze in a pants pocket though it could fit in a loose jacket pocket. To solve the portability issue, Sony included a case that let you strap it to your waist. What started out as a necessity eventually became a marketable, fashionable image that Sony used to attract more buyers. You want to be trendy and culturally relevant? Go buy a Walkman.

Sony Music is getting some shit after it increased the price of a Whitney Houston album on iTunes just hours after the singer was found dead. Hmmm, doesn't look good. Apparently the label had no comment on the price change.
From the ArticleThe music giant is understood to have lifted the wholesale price of Houston's greatest hits album, The Ultimate Collection, at about 4am California time on Sunday. This meant that the iTunes retail price of the album automatically increased from £4.99 to £7.99. Music fans described the move as a cynical attempt to capitalise on Houston's in-demand greatest hits records. The price hike came as tributes flooded in for the singer, whose catalogue...
