Anberlin have announced the support acts for their final tour happening later this year. Lakes, The Weather (Formerly Campfire OK), Mike Herrera and '68 will be supporting select dates. Head to the replies to find out who's covering what dates.
The title is a mantra that we as Anberlin have always tried to adhere to, we never wanted to be ‘rock stars’ we never wanted people to think that we thought of ourselves as better than anyone. We hope that we were more than just a band, we hope in the end that we are considered friends; I felt this was the perfect message to leave out on.
In celebration of this week's release of Anberlin's final album, Lowborn, we have been posting an in-depth, three-part interview special looking back over the band's 12-year career. The final installment with guitarist Christian McAlhaney is now available here, while part II with vocalist Stephen Christian is here and part I with drummer Nate Young is here.
From the moment they asked me to be in the band, it’s been pretty epic, honestly. I feel very blessed and very grateful to have been able to have done this in two different bands now. Most musicians and kids growing up who had dreams and aspirations of being in a touring band, I’d say for 99% of them it doesn’t work out. It...

I’ve had so much success in the long term, and I’m not trying to say it in any monetized way or the amount of CD sales. I’m saying it by the fact that I went out, and I’ll be able to tell my grandkids one day, “Hey, follow your dreams,” and really mean it, and then say that I did. I went out, had this crazy pipedream, and I just pursued it with all I had. Look at the places I got to go, and look at the...

Honestly, I would say that if we could be remembered in a light of just positivity and encouragement. It hits me at different times. We were signing yesterday, and so many people were sharing these stories. “I was listening to you since I was 13.” “You helped me get through some heavy stuff.” “Your music helped me when my mom passed away.” All these things that were so deep. It was hitting me, and I was thankful I was wearing glasses so no one could see I...
I’ve always been open to it, and I think the rest of the guys in the band are open to doing… I don’t think the band would ever get back together, but I definitely feel like some reunion shows would be appropriate for sure. I’ve been trying to organize it for years.
He also talks about Lowborn's album cover "controversy" -- which I guess I missed.
Yeah, we’ve had a guy that has done a lot of our layouts and graphic design. We kind of had an idea of his vision, and he sent us a lot of different versions of a photograph. I’m...
I would rather people say, “Why are they disbanding?” than “Wait, they’re still a band?” That’s what it’s all about. Every band has to know when to hold ‘em, when to fold ‘em. And I just feel like if we want to keep the inspiration, the legacy and everything we’ve done and accomplished as something people are still excited about, we should leave before we’re back in a van playing for 40 people. Twelve years we just put our heart and soul into this, so why leave it with putting a bad taste in peoples' mouths?
Stephen Christian of Anberlin has made a Tumblr where he will post the lyrics to all of their songs and give brief explanations about each.
I have been noticing a lot of lyrics from our records online that have been inaccurate. I thought I would create a tumblr to briefly explain the songs and give the actual lyrics. I only have the first three records up but I will finish the rest soon.
Looks like work on Anberlin's seventh and final album is moving right along. The band have posted an infuriatingly blurry photo of an iTunes page filled with new songs, which you can see in the replies.
In honor of the recent Anberlinnews, Under The Gun Review compiled a list of essential Anberlin tracks as chosen by writers, musicians, and other industry folks. Members of Go Radio, Emarosa, Longtime Anberlin producer Aaron Sprinkle, and several others contributed -- I myself added "Dance, Dance, Christa Paffgen." Check out the playlist and writers' thoughts here, and let us know your essential Anberlin songs in the replies.
Anberlin has uploaded a video to YouTube – check it out in the replies – where they announce that 2014 will see the band release its final album (via Tooth and Nail) and embark on its final world tour.
In 2014 we're going to release our final record and tour the world one more time. We don't want to fade out. We want to end with hugs and celebrate the life that was Anberlin and not be bummed about us ending.
Anberlin stalk you! Seriously. This week Anberlin are our guests on the AP.net Podcast and we talk about a little bit of everything: the band's change of record labels, the re-release of Vital, what happens when a band remembers that I don't think "Adelaide" fits on Cities all that well ... and so much more. It's one of the most laid back and fun conversations we've had yet, and I think if you're a fan of the band it's a must listen.
You can subscribe to this podcast in a variety of ways: via iTunes, your own RSS feed, or streaming/downloading the mp3 in the replies. You can also find our previous episodes on iTunes and SoundCloud. As always, we hope you enjoy.
