I would think that the cost of the transplant, plus the follow up medical care could be over a million. My brother stayed in the hospital one night after knee surgery and it cost $40K. Thankfully we have really good insurance.

any transplant is expensive...every person that walks into your room has a bill for ya in the end..its awful.

Heart transplants are ridiculously complex, even for the surgeons, regardless of how many they've done before.

I work in a hospital, I see patients stay in for three months at a time, yet I've never thought about what it costs to keep them there. 700k for a heart transplant? 40k to spend the night? It makes me glad that I live in the UK. I'm not up to scratch on international healthcare though, is America any closer to getting free healthcare? And is Sicko worth watching?
