Kill Andrade - Kill Andrade EP
Kill Andrade – Kill Andrade EP
Record Label: Unsigned Release Date: January 11, 2009 Who? Kill Andrade is an underground punk group from Boston who color outside the conventional lines of rock/punk/music with their audacious, abrasive sound. Plus they offer their EP as a free download on their MySpace page, so get yourself a copy and your friends as well. How is it? Absolutely fucking awesome! One of the most pleasant surprises I’ve heard in a while from the punk underworld. The fact that bands of this quality are bubbling below the bubbling underground is mind-boggling – that there’s nobody out there looking to sign them is insane. Kill Andrade play a scratchy type of sort-of punk in the vein of The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, where the bassist does whatever he wants, the guitars are angular and experimental, and the drums groove like their supporting a normal rock band. Very, very independent sounding, Kill Andrade’s style is probably enhanced by the lo-fi and should never be cleaned up – save for maybe “Blood?” which could stand to mix the vocals a little lower. I would recommend checking this band out right away – and since it’s a free download, how could you possibly go wrong? If you’re going to make your decision based on just one song, I’d go with “Against the Gun”, though it’s tough picking an individual song out of this scrambled mess! That track’s guitar has got to be one of the most infectious things I’ve heard this month, triumphant but haunting like a Fugazi track (even if it sounds pretty much nothing like Fugazi.) If you’ve read this far into my babbling excitable review, though, you’re obviously interested, so go check it out. As in, now! Tracklist: 01. Captain Modern 02. The Strip 03. Blood? 04. Against the Gun 05. Downplay 06. Isolation Creation 07. Todayhead Recommended If You Like: Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower, Some Girls, Lords Check ‘em Out: www.myspace.com/killandrade |
