Third Eye Blind Collaborates With 30-Piece Magic Magic Orchestra
Minna Choi, leader of San Francisco's Magic Magic Orchestra, recently assembled a 30-piece orchestra to perform her arrangements of songs from Third Eye Blind’s new album ‘Ursa Major.’ The concert, filmed for an upcoming dvd and attended by friends and local musicians, is part of Stephan Jenkins’ ongoing chamber music series in the San Francisco mansion where the band recorded ‘Ursa Major.’
“This is a classic Victorian chamber room and we like to share it with musicians in the SF music community. To hear the Magic Magic Orchestra play our songs with us was an overwhelming treat. It was my first time performing with a full orchestra so I dressed like Mozart!"
‘Ursa Major’ debuted at #3 on the Billboard Album Chart, selling almost 80,000 units. The Associated Press hails the album as "a musical gem" and “a fine line between aggression and a deft pop sensibility…Jenkins' lyrics juxtapose poetry with profanity, anger with longing and big world issues with the personal…Third Eye Blind hasn't forgotten how to lay down a strong record.”
