Hate to say it, but the new songs are terrible and as I've said before, their new singer does not fit the band at all.

Matt destroyed the band? Are you serious? These guys used to be a pretty well known band in this scene, all while matt was the vocalist. When matt left, they went downhill, obviously, as you can see from the 100 posts before mine. |

Agreed. I've seen them eleven times, 8 times with Matt, and 3 with Jesse. They never cease to amaze me live. Matt had his weak nights, I'll be the first to admit it. But so far, Jesse is three for three. He remains consistently strong as a live performer. Honestly people, a band is bound to change over the course of their career. Will is still writing the lyrics/music, so that aspect hasn't changed. What It Takes still screams Amber Pacific to me. You still have the strong drums, guitar, and bass. You have to admit, the harmonies of Davy's voice and Jesse's are amazing. My main thing right now, is that no one is even going to give them a second chance. YES these are demos, because a lot of the fans have been begging for them (me included!). I really enjoyed the acoustic versions that Will posted to his youtube account a few months back. As Will said, you can't judge a band off of one or two songs. Just give them another chance. I'll admit, it takes a bit to get used to a new singer. It was odd seeing Jesse for the first time, singing the "old" songs. By the second show, I was used to it, and the third I was excited to see them as a whole. If you know the guys, you can tell how much happier they are now as a band then when they had Matt in the band before Jesse. Matt held the guys back from getting bigger. He was getting an ego and the rest of the guys are WAY down to earth. At the last show with Matt, there was a definite tension in the air. When they had their first show with Jesse, they were their normal happy selves. You could tell they were so much happier. My friends and I could just feel it at both shows. It's hard to describe. |
I see I'm not alone in my dislike for these songs. I wanted to like them, but just can't.

they sound like a boutleg jimmy eat world now. they definately changed direction

you morons all bashed matt while he was in the band, now you're pretending you didn't. keep at it, will. you're right, shit tons have people have never heard of your band. don't let the hypocritical elitists on here dissuade you.

![]() Change, and evolution is natural to a band. THIS Amber Pacific is worlds different than the one I met in 2005... approachable, personable, genuine. And the only thing that changed was a couple members. For the sake of dynamic, the vocal switch was a welcome one. As for who can sing better? It's apples and oranges. Jesse is like a human tuning fork. Ask him to sing you a note, and you can tune your guitar to it. I personally love his voice. And yes, the music has changed. It's kind of a tough sell in this genre, because, well, no one's reinventing the wheel in Pop-Punk. So when your music changes at all, you inherently piss off a lot of your old fans. But the fact of the matter is, no matter how generic one might think it sounds, these are genuine dudes making genuine music. The stuff they want to play. And stuff they'll be proud of. I'll stand behind that much more firmly than the bullshit currently poisoning the airwaves. I wouldn't expect a filter on anyone's voice, but it's always kind of shocking to see just how little people regard another person's hard work. No matter how asinine it is to them. Feel free to hate; I just don't really get it. I, for one, love that first song. Like sex to my ears. And it's scary that the harmonies sound NO different live. F you, Davy and Jesse, for singing that stuff pitch perfect on a nightly basis. - Okie |

this is everything ive been wanting to say but couldnt find the right words for. this band has been my favorite for a solid 4-5 years and there has been so much improvement over the years. theyve become such a solid band musically and consists of the most incredible 5 people ive ever. this was definitely not possible with matt and for the well being and long term life of the band, the singer change ws a huge step in a positive direction. and although im sure they want their fanbase to grow, its good to see, through all the bashing, that theres still a solid group of us that the guys have known for years and will always have their back. |

from a 'i listen to this band from time to time'-fan point of view, sure, you might see it that way. but being 'well known in the scene' isnt all these guys care about. this band actually cares about their fans and matt treated everyone like shit. they were losing their biggest, long-time fans because of it. so yes, matt was tearing the band apart more than jesse ever could. |
Surprisingly ok. Probably because I had such low expectations. Nothing I'd ever go back and listen to again. I've never been able to get into these guys much.
