i love garden state.

this, not so much.

mrnegativezero 06/10/10 02:49 PM

Misread and thought it was full band. Would've been more interested in that, as this is nothing special.

HometownHero 06/10/10 02:56 PM

What is with dudes like this, and this song. His voice is pleasant but the music was not that great. And I hate that girls on his page are like "this is much better then the original." :hitself:

hopi 06/10/10 02:56 PM

I dig this. Talented dude--definitely at his best with Sierra by his side, though.

Haha it always cracks me up seeing the role reversal on this site

Dirge07 06/10/10 03:05 PM

He did a stripped-down version of this a year or so back, and I honestly like that one a tad bit more. Regardless, both versions are gewd.

and hopefully there'd be pictures/videos

quiksilver21k 06/10/10 04:12 PM

Wow really? How can you even compare the original to this cover by Boys Like Girls? There version lacks any of the emotion that is in the original.

3wotkris 06/10/10 04:21 PM

This is literally years old. Guess he must've took it down and re-posted it.

Alex DiVincenzo 06/10/10 04:21 PM

Not bad

Hahaha. It's not referring to a cover by Boys Like Girls. It's referring to one by a guy in VersaEmerge, I posted the BLG one.

drevans18 06/10/10 04:26 PM

I'm confused, because I'm watching Boys Like Girls do this song, and I don't hate it. As for Blake's, he's talented. But I don't think this song was a good choice for a cover.

Scrawns 06/10/10 04:39 PM

he could easily be the singer of VE

He rerecorded it, and posted the rerecording.

Ya I understand that...it's like Fall Out Boy covering the Beatles...just have to ask myself why?

i really enjoy blake's voice.

Bruised26 06/10/10 06:09 PM

This is still my favourite.

this one is solid but technically it is studio produced. all of AOLs "live" stuff has post production and if you have a studio ear you can def hear the autocorrection on his voice its really blatant. little tip is that most DVDs you see of bands that say "live" are performed live but in the same way movies have guys come in and do voice overs on parts they blew, or that the mic didnt pick up... same deal. Its ran thru protools when they perform and then later its pushed into post and anything that was like "whoa i fucked that up" dont worry, well just fix it and if its not fixable "hop in the booth and sing that line again" .... is what it is

makeoutmags 06/11/10 09:36 AM

I actually like Blake's, is it re-recorded from the old one that had been floating around?

ps. I don't really think BLG did it justice.

Yeah, I understand all that. I know Boys Like Girls had an AOL sessions the day the lead singer was sick and they went over the audio to make it sound better.
Live DVDs are edited. I don't think theres any harm going over a part again because it has to be to the artists satisfaction afterall if they're going to release it.

me neither... i did it too when we did dvd stuff so im not knocking it at all... some of their songs i really enjoy

Overpass 06/11/10 04:19 PM

Wow - a lot better than I expected. Well done.

cereal4life 06/11/10 09:17 PM

As far as covers go, the best one is undoubtedly by A Static Lullaby's cover. Not a fan of the band but that cover rips!
